As we continue to raise awareness about illegal human trafficking operations in #somalia#libya#algeria - we are being contacted by new individuals who were recently recruited to make this dangerous journey.
Recruitment efforts in Mogadishu remain active, allegedly facilitated by individuals connected to the Office of Migration and Mogadishu International Airport.
Children as young as 15 years old are reportedly paired with so‑called “guides” who assist them in obtaining passports in Mogadishu so they can board outbound flights. These guides pose as parents or legal guardians, providing the required signatures and documentation.
Passport counters involved in this process are alleged to have direct connections to the broader trafficking network and to receive payments in exchange for their participation.

Libya Files - Mohamed Isaaq
Mohamed Isaaq is a Consul in the Somali embassy in Libya. Mohamed is alleged to use his authority and accessibility in the embassy to make money facilitating the illegal human trafficking ring in Libya.
Instead of helping Somali citizens, Mohamed frequently requests thousands of dollars to provide them simple services, denies paperwork for migrants to go back to Somalia, and bribes families to visit their loved ones in jail. It has been alleged that for Mohamed to visit a migrant in jail and work on their deportation back to Somalia, Mohamed charges families $2400.

Even with multiple notifications to @MOFASomalia of criminal complaints of their Consuls in Libya and Algeria - no investigation or action has been taken.
Could there be bigger involvement and cover by the Somali government of these human trafficking rings?
Why would ransom money from #somali families end up in bank accounts belonging to government employees?

Libya Files – Death of Ayan Farey at the Somali Embassy in Libya
Ayan Codey Farey, a 24‑year‑old mother of two from Nairobi, traveled to Libya seeking safety and a path forward but instead faced abuse, exploitation, and was held hostage in the Somali embassy in Libya.
After being robbed and assaulted by those she stayed with, she sought help at the Somali Embassy in Tripoli, where Consul Ibrahim promised support and marriage. After becoming pregnant, Ayan was forced to take abortion pills, became seriously ill, and was secretly held inside the embassy for months, a situation known to multiple staff members. On February 24, 2025, Ayan was found dead in a room at the Somali Embassy, her death quietly communicated to her family while a witness who shared evidence was arrested and remains incarcerated.

We cannot stay silent.
There are growing allegations that the #somali Embassy in Libya is complicit in the exploitation of Somali migrants. Reports claim that consular officials demand $1,000–$2,000 for services that should cost no more than $30–$40.
Additionally, multiple testimonies allege that a young Somali woman died inside the embassy on February 24, 2025, following an alleged relationship with a consular official known as Ibrahim, who is accused of holding her against her will.
If these allegations are true, they represent a grave betrayal of public trust. Those responsible must be held accountable, and an independent investigation is urgently needed.

Libya Files - Zakarie Mohamed Ali
Zakarie Mohamed Ali – also known as Abdalle Somali was a known hostage camp leader in the Kufra area of Libya. His alleged role was to manage kidnapped migrants as the camp leader and ensure their families sent payments before they were freed and put on boats for illegal migration to Europe. Unfortunately, Zakarie’s priorities were on getting payments by any means necessary including murder. Additionally, Zakarie served as the money man in these kidnappings for ransom cases for the Libyans. Using Somali owned financial institutions, Zakarie would use his accounts in Somalia to receive and transfer ransom money paid by already suffering family members. We have over 20 victims alleging monstrous behavior by Zakarie – many of whom have shown us the scars they suffered in his hands and images of a dead young woman that he took and sent to her family after killing her. We also have been provided audio recordings of Zakarie as he demands increased ransom from Somali families. We also have money transfer receipts that link the receipt of ransom money by an affiliate of Zakarie.
Zakarie is currently believed to be either in the Epping, UK or may have recently went back to Mogadishu to seek the protection of local government and tribal leaders.
If you have any information, records (audios/pictures/videos), receipts of interactions with Zakarie (known as Abdalle Somali), or tips on his whereabouts, please send them to: [email protected]
