I have what most would consider weird or unpopular opinions about AI thumbnails, so here's a video on that topic so I don't have to keep explaining in every comment thread: https://t.co/EgIxqUWj1g
@Probius6@Grummz@Marky_X_ The final sentence is not informed by the sentences before it the way you think it is.
But you thinking it is tells me all I need to know about the direction of the conversation. You go ahead thinking that. Not my job to change it.
You are wrong though. And that's fine.
@_claypot If tokyo, it’s like the usa where spanish is repeated after things in english - so you’ll mostly be able to get around. If not tokyo, good luck.
@FluffyOfTheMoon Who's this "you" in your imaginary scenario? Me? Cause I promise you I don't have extra money to give to people for something so stupid.
Nevermind that, I didn't even bring up it being difficult. I do make my own.
I make my own AND I think you're wrong. That's your problem.
@Reewyn_@PineSauced The "and title" part matters way more than I think you even realize.
As it relates to this creator in particular, the thumb is not doing the heavy lifting whatsoever especially for new viewers.
@SlickbackDesign@PineSauced From my perspective, the ragebait was buying into needing to buy expensive software or hire people to do something that doesn't need doing.
But no, I'm deadly serious. Full thoughts in new vid pinned and I'm happy to hear why I'm wrong.
Preaching to the choir on that last bit - that's exactly how I do mine in photopea.
But we're going to disagree on the "many people would rather" part because clearly the evidence for that isn't there. The evidence is drastically swinging the other way and not in the way that you think.
I have always been an advocate of the concept of "your thumbnails don't actually matter". This one dude keeps coming up because of his AI thumbnails but realistically they're irrelevant to the overarching equation, which is that he has a 900k sub channel and he's developing a channel in a heavily sough after niche. There is a market demand for the videos he's making and he's filling a void.
I stand by what I said though. The only people mad about the AI thumbs are artists - and I include people who make their own thumbs who don't identify as 'artists' - and their performative friends. It's not even the correct battle to be having on any front.
You can't know which artists are also using AI.
What's happening here is that a group of people who will soon have to find other jobs want to gatekeep an entire media sphere with emotional blackmail all while hiding the fact that many of them too use the tools they're out here speaking out against.
This is not for you or your benefit. This is a drowning man willing to pull you under so they can breathe a while longer.
@me_zevi Well..
I’ve just always been extremely supportive of artists, and when AI art first started becoming a thing, I saw it as a bit of an ethical dilemma especially with how it could encroach on artists’ work/livelihoods..
@Probius6@Grummz@Marky_X_ They do one singular check when you mark your app as 'ready to review'. After that review passes, you can make changes. Those changes are not then reviewed.
The boot where you defend something you don't know because of who said it even when they're wrong.
@Probius6@Grummz@Marky_X_ My exe is less than 1mb out of 1.3gb. I could (and have a few times) include the wrong one that doesn’t work. Steams supposed to know that how?
Without… actually… opening it…?????????????
Cmon now get the boot out of your throat it’s ok for a small accnt to make a point.
You guys think the second one doesn’t look AI?
Mr. Beast trying to put out that AI thumb maker only proved that all his recent thumbs are AI - so all Mr Beast looking thumbs, like this one, are probably AI by default.
And we all know it. It’s not tricking anyone. Just be proud
For any content creator who makes their own thumbnails using AI, you really need to learn how to Photoshop them afterward to remove that obvious “AI-generated” look. The difference it makes is unbelievable.
I don’t think we need to crucify people for using AI thumbnails. They obviously appeal to the younger audience while maintaining his overall theme.
The pushback over the last few days of this guy in particular being slop feels performative based on jealousy.
I will say tho that the metrics of his 900k channel don’t scream “this is legitimate” but that’s a separate issue altogether.
@Grummz@Marky_X_ I've committed 1196 builds to my game that I originally released in 2018 for $1 that has since been reduced to free.
Should Steam have playtested them all?
