@awstar11 It’s a little like arguing that this guy isn’t actually a Nazi because he’s black.
We have a new version of the ‘No True Scotsman’ fallacy. ‘No True Nazi’ exists.

To be clear, not my photo and I don’t live in Boston. But had many friends run by him at this year’s marathon, as he hurled “Heil Hitler” at them.
Sadly, no one stood up to him. The police came and said he could keep going, which is fine… but no one did what you suggested. I think that would have been good. ❤️
This literally proves we don't hate foreigners or immigrants at all. All we ask is that you appreciate the land that welcomes you. He's not bitching about Trump or colonialism or any of that bullshit. Just taking in the sights and how awesome it all is. And in return, we're all ready to make him an official American, hell even I want to take this guy to some awesome places around here in my state. That's literally all it takes, just show some respect and we'll embrace you wholeheartedly.
Though I agree with you, it's hard to not notice that all of his policy positions regarding Jews are +/- what an "Actual Nazi" would hold.
We're also sometimes overly precious about what constitutes an Actual Nazi these days. I think we often do some form of 'No True Scotsman' when we try to define and identify Nazis. Incoherent views are abound when people these days self-describe as Nazis. Kanye, the black guy HHing on the Boston Marathon course, gay Mexican incels, etc, etc. An edgelord communist who likes killing people being a Nazi doesn't seem like a stretch.
Detroit News: "One of the eight people indicted Wednesday for allegedly conspiring to threaten University of Michigan leaders to pressure them to sever ties with Israel worked for the U.S. Senate campaign of Abdul El-Sayed"

She had text messages from before the story was public talking about how he called it "my Totenkopf". Platner says she never told him that it was a Nazi tattoo. You don't need to trust her to understand this sequence of events.
And now there's another woman, whom he dated 5 years ago with similar text messages from before it was public.
Is he going to claim that he dated two women who knew he had a Nazi Tattoo that didn't tell him about it?
Again... this is an impossible set of facts.
Furthermore, I have no idea how (or if! we haven't seen his records) the gov missed it on inspections. Are you suggesting it's not on file? Or that his tattoo didn't actually look like it? The screen grabs Platner released from the video he released were dark blurry and didn't show the tattoo very clearly. The photo that the "republican operative" showed the New York Times make it completely unambiguous. It's no wonder that the campaign chose to release a blurry screengrab when they could have released something different.
First photo released by Platner. The others were obtained by the media. This isn't a tattoo resembling the totenkopf.. It *is* a totenkopf. If the gov missed it, which is possible, that's an issue with their processes.
Like others… you’re missing the point.
Someone else not recognizing the tattoo is understandable. Even if you’re familiar with various Nazi symbols. You see lots of different tattoos and there’s often some vagary as to what does or doesn’t match.
Platner has looked at that tattoo every day for 18 years. When he sees the symbol on a movie he watched, or in a photo in the subreddit he frequented, it’s going to stick out to him.. and at some point in those 18 years you’d say “huh? That looks an awful lot like my tattoo.”
He claims he had no idea it was, let alone *resembled* a totenkopf. That’s just not believable.
And after one woman showed texts from before the tattoo was public saying he had a Nazi tattoo, he said “well she never told me”.
That wasn’t believable. Some random non-Nazi history buff recognizes it, doesn’t say anything about it, and he, Nazi history buff never did?
And then yesterday a second woman came forward with texts from before it was public where she highlighted that he had a Nazi tattoo. Presumably he’s now going to claim that multiple women recognized his tattoo and didn’t tell him??
You have to admit, even if you are inclined to give him all the benefit of the doubt possible, that the odds he didn’t know at least many years ago are hovering around zero.
If you’re ok with his totenkopf, and ok with his lying about it, and ok with him deliberately exposing it at a Jewish wedding, then that’s an intellectually honest position.
The swastika means something to other groups in America too. Think about the cultural impact of American History X and skin head white supremacists. For the left, the is the archetype of hate and the only kind they’re readily able/willing to see. The confederate flag is almost synonymous.
I can’t think of a good analogy… but consider the left/media/democrats freak out over the Appeal to Heaven flag flying at Alito’s house… While it was simultaneously flying at San Francisco City Hall. The hypocrisy here and the implications are *massive*
Apropos nothing: but I can’t stop thinking about how he knowingly exposed his tattoo at a Jewish wedding. So knowingly that he talks about it as a defense.
@Legal_Fil He got to meet a lot of authentic working class folks when he went to his private liberal arts college to get a degree in creative writing and then worked at Penn State before recently moving to Maine!
(This is his real bio)
@RefrmDemocracy@420mercymain69@FindSonas Shes saying she didn’t see it immediately when they started dating. You can judge her for not dumping him when she saw it. But she elsewhere says he fed her a sob story about why he had it.
And she showed screenshots of texts calling it a Nazi tattoo, *before it was public*.
@KatiePavlich And wonderfully these clowns are getting the punishment they deserve… a second woman is claiming, with contemporaneous evidence, that he knew it was a Nazi tattoo while they dated (he was cheating on her, of course) 5 years ago.

I very briefly was talking to and then consequently seeing Graham Platner from about February 2021 until mid July 2021 when it was revealed to me that he was cheating on his fiancé at the time. He knew about the fucking tattoo.
@ToddWitteles@420mercymain69 She put up a photo of him oyster farming that doesn’t have any hits on reverse image search…. And she talked about dating a guy named Graham in 2021 on Twitter.
Obviously one can never be certain at this stage, but seems likely to be legit.
@AliceFromQueens Are you embarrassed by how quickly a 2nd woman has come forward *with contemporaneous texts* about his Nazi tattoo before it was public?
His “well they didn’t tell me” shtick went from improbable to impossible.

When he went to Vermont for his immigration appointment, he was accompanied by his friend Christopher Helali. They knew he'd be arrested, and Helali was there to film and to notify his lawyers immediately so they could file a federal lawsuit that would keep him in a friendlier area. Helali's video is the reason we know Mahdawi.
Who is Helali? He co-founded the American Communist Party with Jackson Hinkle. Last year, after visits to Hezbollah and the Houthis, he defected to Moscow, where he now lives.
Bad people.
@yaelbt “The region used to be a part of Palestine before the land was claimed by Israel” is a diabolical way to describe Herzliya!
Unbelievable nonsense. I’m not sure Al Jazeera would even have the temerity to publish that.
@EveExamines@jessicaschwalb7@JoshKraushaar it even gets crazier... Helali fought with Hezbollah/Assad linked factions in Syria. Against ISIS and also against Western backed groups... He's not in America any more.. but he was driving the initial narrative on Mahdawi.
These are bad guys.
