OJ's case is the exact reverse of Michael's.
OJ got to defend himself in criminal court first, then the civil case convicted him.
The judge refused to schedule Michael's Criminal Trial first, which is why he had to settle his Civil Case in 1993, so he could fight for his freedom in a proper court case.

But the family, once they got paid, took the money, stopped cooperating with police, and ran.

Because it was blackmail. Plain and simple.

And THAT case? Was allowed in the 2005 trial. So Michael was tried for EVERY accusation at once, even if it hadn't been properly filed.

He not only was found innocent. He was found innocent nearly a full month before the trial was even supposed to end.

The judge added 4 lesser misdemeanors of Child Endangerment to the list.

He was acquitted of those too.

They couldn't even get him on a Misdemeanor.
