@DaRealWulfshady @EssenceOfTweet Well I'm glad he listened to you a bit, at least. Seems EoT would rather block people calling him out for spreading baseless shit than talk to them unless they criticize the people he doesn't like first.
Shame.
@soltrane_ If you are sitting at sea level and the sun passes out of view (past the horizon) and then you quickly stand up, you can see the sun again, because your angle of observation has changed around three to four feet.
Imagine what landmasses and buildings do to that effect. Ffs.
'Unbiasedly research'.
Yeah, that'll end up with hundreds of proposed systems and all of the evidence supporting a non-flat earth. You want people to believe YOUR sources.
@burntbacon@SomePersonsTwit@Gylauer@AlvesMisterios There are dozens of reasons... Which is why you should research it. Money, ego, lies, hiding intelligent design. It's deep stuff. It doesn't end there. The rabbit hole is deeper than you can imagine. Unbiasly research.
Eric dubay. YouTube him.
@soltrane_ Yep, don't know what you're talking about.
The 8in per mile squared is at sea level. Measuring it from land, especially a lighthouse, will drastically skew the results. The only way to test it would be to reproduce the Bedford Level Experiment, which shows a curve.
@soltrane_@burntbacon@Gylauer@AlvesMisterios We have a variety of ways to measure how far away things are, from relativistic to concrete (and impractical).
It always amuses me when conspiracy theorists make more complex, less rational defenses of their beliefs just to accuse others of arbitrary allegiance to 'NASA'.
@soltrane_@burntbacon@Gylauer@AlvesMisterios A consumer brand telescope can see the moon in fair detail, mars, venus, mercury, jupiter, and saturn. You can even make out some of the larger and brighter nebulae.
That's just metal and lenses, bud. Not cameras or digital feeds. You can't fake that.
@soltrane_@burntbacon@Gylauer@AlvesMisterios Darling, there's a reason I chose Japan and not some place across land with 'smog, buildings, trees, and hills' in the way. You're looking for post-hoc justifications of 'atmospheric cloudiness' when we can see out into space without issue. This is a ridiculous claim.
@soltrane_@burntbacon@Gylauer@AlvesMisterios 1. Seems like an arbitrary thing to claim without an experiment. Do you have any tests?
2. Hence the use of a telescope.
3. That's flagrantly untrue, telescopes can see distances up into the sky - unless you assume some kind of firmament, at which point you're beyond facts.
Since #Subverse is launching into Early Access, and y'all are super excited for it, I figured I'd do a small giveaway and give away several copies of the game as soon as it's available: https://t.co/l3d1vrzX97 Like and Retweet to spread the word, and participate in the giveaway!
@CFCEmmaus@letstryabreak I have a degree in religious studies from an accredited university.
What study have you done on Atheism? Since you seem so keen to talk about it - you must have learned of it from somewhere, yes?
