Despite Mississippi leaders making voting as hard as possible, Scott Colom is still in the lead. And we have the Black folks to thank for that.

We saw huge wins across the country, and what really made the difference was that majority-Black counties outperformed many majority-white counties this year, especially in the South.

Last night, @KeishaBottoms won in Georgia will be the first Black woman to serve as a governor. @AaronDFordNV will be the first Black governor in Nevada, and @DavidCCrowley the first in Wisconsin. @MelatKirosCO will be the first Black woman to represent Colorado in Congress.

Ethiopian-born @MelatKirosCO is now Colorado’s 1st Black member of Congress, having been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Colorado's 1st Congressional District.

Congrats to New York Lieutenant Governor-elect Adrienne Adams, now the state’s first-ever Black woman Lt. Governor.
