East Bengal FC thrashed Coal India Sports Promotion Association 7-0 at the East Bengal/Aryan Club Ground on Saturday.

The Red and Golds dominated from the start, taking a 2-0 lead at half-time before turning the game into a rout after the break. They added five more goals in the second half to complete a comprehensive victory.

Mohamed Bilal scored twice for East Bengal, while the team’s relentless attacking display saw them finish with seven goals and a clean sheet.

Despite the win, East Bengal have ended the CFL campaign without the crown as Mohun Bagan have become champions.

Group C (1) is a total nightmare. Japan getting paired with Denmark and New Zealand right out of the gate is brutal. Japan might be an Asian powerhouse, but Denmark is never a walk in the park.

Jonatan Christie Ends 25-Year Wait as Indonesia Gets a New World No.1 🏸

Jonatan Christie has climbed to the top of the BWF World Rankings, becoming the first Indonesian men’s singles player in more than 25 years to hold the coveted No.1 spot.

The last Indonesian to do it? Taufik Hidayat, who ruled the rankings between 2000 and 2001.

Christie’s rise comes after the conclusion #BWFWorldChampionships2026 in New Delhi, where the rankings saw some major shifts.

Former world champion Shi Yu Qi dropped five places to No.6 after his shock first-round exit, opening the door for Christie to move up two spots.

And while Christie claimed the throne, France’s Alex Lanier emerged as one of the biggest winners of the championships. His world title earned him 14,500 ranking points and lifted him three places to No.7. Runner-up Kodai Naraoka also climbed, taking 12,500 points.

Elsewhere, Christo Popov surged to No.2, while veteran Chou Tien Chen moved to No.4.

In women’s singles, there was little change at the top. World champion An Se Young strengthened her grip on No.1 with 121,287 points, ahead of Wang Zhi Yi and Akane Yamaguchi. World Championships semifinalist Pornpawee Chochuwong climbed to No.8.

The doubles rankings also reflected the impact of New Delhi.

Indonesia’s Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum broke into the women’s doubles top 10 at No.9, while Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari rose to No.11.

The World Championships may be over, but its ripple effect is already being felt across the rankings.
