🇮🇩|Fire at the #Sade Traditional #Sasak Village in Central Lombok: Not an Accident
On the evening of Saturday, August 22, 2026, Sade Traditional Village in #Rembitan Village, #Pujut District, Central #Lombok, West #Nusa Tenggara, was engulfed by fire. The village, more than 600 years old, is a cultural symbol and spiritual stronghold of the Sasak people.
At approximately 22:00 WITA, the fire began at a residential house. Its wooden structures, bamboo construction, and thatched roofs allowed the flames to spread rapidly. By 22:48 WITA, the fire was still burning. In the end, 150 traditional houses were destroyed, affecting approximately 150 families and between 700 and 750 people. Firefighters from the Mandalika Special Economic Zone took part in extinguishing the blaze.
Authorities said the cause remains under investigation. Residents speculated that it may have been caused by “an electrical short circuit or a cigarette butt.” But can a community that has been systematically deprived of its land, culture, and right to exist have everything explained simply by “an electrical short circuit”?
🔥 The Pattern: Land Seizure, Military Presence and Shadow Relationships
The destruction of Sade Village is not an isolated case, but part of a systematic project of land seizure carried out in the name of “development.”
· Mandalika Special Economic Zone (Mandalika SEZ): Located only a few hundred metres from Sade Village, it stands at the forefront of this land struggle. Civil society organizations have accused the project of forced evictions, land grabbing, intimidation, and violence. UN experts had already pointed to “serious land grabbing” and the “forced eviction” of Sasak indigenous people in 2021. Indonesia’s National Human Rights Commission documented human-rights violations connected to the Mandalika project. Academic research has also found that the SEZ intensified land acquisition and the destruction of customary land rights.
· U.S.-Indonesia “Major Defense Cooperation Partnership” (MDCP): Signed in April 2026, it provides the U.S. military with access to the Indonesian archipelago, including Lombok. Only four months before the Sade Village fire, the United States had secured a strategic foothold in Indonesia, including Lombok and key waterways.
· Israel’s “Shadow Relationship”: In June 2026, the Misgav Institute for National Security & Zionist Strategy published a report claiming that Indonesia and Israel maintain a “shadow relationship” through covert links involving trade, technology, defense, and cooperation through third countries. The report advocated bringing Indonesia into the Abraham Accords. Although the Indonesian government denied such a relationship, Indonesian military representatives did pose for photographs in front of the booth of Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems. The company is deeply involved in military operations in Gaza. This “shadow relationship,” the report argues, fits the wider globalist architecture of the “Great Reset.”
⚡️ The fire at Sade Village was a targeted attack on one of the last living, autonomous, organic communities in the Indonesian archipelago. The Sasak people and their customary law, known as adat law, are a firewall against the complete corporate and digital colonization of Lombok. This fire is precisely the arsonist’s opening statement.
Its purpose is clear and brutal: clear the land, destroy the physical evidence of sovereignty, displace the population, and weaponize the tourism economy. Those who stand to benefit are the familiar faces: Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and the Mandalika Special Economic Zone Authority, BlackRock and Vanguard, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the “Smart Island” agenda.
The flames at Sade Village are not merely a tragedy, but a confession. The globalist machine has no interest in preserving the world’s last living, organic, autonomous cultures, because they prove that another way of life exists. This fire is the empire’s response.
It is the same fire that has burned through Gaza, Maui, and the forests of Europe. It is the fire of the “Great Reset.” It will not stop until every free, ancestral, ungovernable human settlement has been reduced to ashes and replaced by a corporate, digitized, soulless replica.
The Sasak people do not need your prayers. They need your eyes.
