Luton, UK: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri Delivers Keynote Address at "Shan-e-Ahl-e-Bait-e-Nabvi ﷺ Conference"
His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, founding leader of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, delivered the keynote address at the "Shan-e-Ahl-e-Bait-e-Nabviﷺ Conference", organised on the occasion of the "Ta'ziyati Reference of Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Shah Jillani (R.A)" under the auspices of Markazi Jama'at-e-Ahle Sunnat (UK & Overseas) at Jamia Islamia Ghousia Trust, Luton.
Addressing a large gathering of scholars, community leaders and students of knowledge, Shaykh-ul-Islam delivered a profound Qur’anic exposition of Ayat al-Tatheer (The Verse of Purification) from Surah al-Ahzab (33:33):
اِنَّمَا یُرِیْدُ اللهُ لِیُذْهِبَ عَنْکُمُ الرِّجْسَ اَهْلَ الْبَیْتِ وَیُطَہِّرَکُمْ تَطْہِیْرًا
“Stay in your homes and do not display your charm, like the displaying of the former (days of) ignorance. Establish the prayer, pay the alms due and keep obeying Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ). Indeed, Allah only desires to keep all (forms and causes of) impurity away from you, O Members of the (Prophet’s) Family, and purify you with a thorough purifying.”
Shaykh-ul-Islam explained that this blessed verse is a clear and unequivocal declaration of the unique rank, spiritual excellence and divinely bestowed purity of the blessed Ahl al-Bayt (ʿalayhim al-salām). He stated that Almighty Allah Himself has declared His exclusive will to remove every form of rijs—including every impurity, spiritual defect, doubt, moral corruption and anything contrary to goodness—and to grant them complete and perfect taṭhīr.
Explaining the Qur’anic language, Shaykh-ul-Islam emphasised that the verse is not merely a command for the Ahl al-Bayt to attain purity through their own efforts. Rather, it is a decisive declaration that Allah ﷻ Himself undertook their complete purification. This divine act establishes their honour, purity and spiritual rank through the Qur’an itself.
He further explained that the emphatic expression “وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا” signifies not an ordinary form of purification but a complete, perfect and divinely bestowed purification encompassing every aspect of their belief, intentions, character, conduct, sacrifice and spiritual excellence. He stressed that the sacrifices of the Ahl al-Bayt, particularly the events of Karbala, must be understood through this Qur’anic declaration rather than through political or worldly interpretations.
Elaborating on the unparalleled virtues and elevated status of the Ahl al-Bayt in the light of the Holy Qur’an and authentic Prophetic traditions, Shaykh-ul-Islam affirmed that love, reverence and loyalty to the Ahl al-Bayt are fundamental to the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah. He urged believers to return to the Qur’an and Sunnah when understanding their status and warned against allowing polemics or distorted historical narratives to shape their perception. He described the blessed Household of the Holy Prophet ﷺ as the purest embodiment of his guidance, character and spiritual legacy, whose lives continue to illuminate the path of faith, knowledge, piety and moral excellence.
The conference was attended by Pir Syed Mazhar Hussain Gillani, President of Markazi Jama’at-e-Ahle Sunnat (UK & Overseas); Pir Syed Munawar Hussain Shah Jamati; Syed Ali Abbas Bukhari, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International UK; Allama Qazi Abdul Aziz Chishti MBE, Secretary General of Markazi Jama’at-e-Ahle Sunnat (UK & Overseas); alongside distinguished scholars, community leaders and members of the Muslim community from across the United Kingdom.
The gathering concluded with collective prayers for the unity of the Muslim Ummah and for peace, stability and prosperity throughout the world.

Sheffield, UK: His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed students of Al-Ma’rifa in a deeply spiritual and reflective session titled “The Unbroken Chain”.
Shaykh-ul-Islam spoke on the journey of ta‘allum, the receiving of sacred knowledge, and explained that the seeker of knowledge, the muta‘allim, must begin with the purification of intention. Learning is not merely an external act of study, reading or memorisation. It is an inner journey of turning towards Allah Almighty, standing in His court and entering a state of munajat, speaking to Allah with humility and sincerity.
Shaykh-ul-Islam reminded the students that every act of learning must carry a niyyah. The intention should be to receive ma‘rifa, to understand the commandments of Allah Almighty and the guidance of His Beloved Messenger ﷺ, and to become a humble servant of Allah. He explained that one cannot truly aspire to servanthood without first seeking to understand what Allah Almighty wants from His servant.
A central message of the session was humility. Shaykh-ul-Islam advised students never to become proud of what they have learnt, but to always consider themselves at the beginning of the journey. The seeker should continue to purify the self, strive sincerely and aspire only to become a true servant of Allah Almighty. When this path is followed with sincerity, blessings come as a matter of course.
Shaykh-ul-Islam gave the example of three types of trees: a large tree with no leaves that provides no shade, a tree with leaves that gives shade and a fruit-bearing tree. He explained that the branches of a fruit-bearing tree bend down with humility, while a tree without fruit remains straight, stiff and stubborn. In the same way, true knowledge makes a person humble, while knowledge without inner transformation leaves a person rigid and ignorant.
He explained that true ilm takes a person away from the world of “me, myself and I”. It removes selfishness and opens the heart towards selflessness, service and concern for others. Since ilm is an attribute granted by Allah Almighty, sincere pursuit of knowledge should begin to transform the character, conduct and attributes of the seeker for the better.
Shaykh-ul-Islam also warned that the interpretation and benefit of knowledge only enter the heart when the intention is pure. Without sincerity, knowledge may remain on the tongue or in the mind, but it does not illuminate the heart or transform the spiritual state of the seeker. True knowledge disciplines life, purifies the inner self and reforms behaviour.
He reminded the students that Allah Almighty, the angels and the possessors of knowledge bear witness to the oneness of Allah. Therefore, the true possessor of knowledge cannot be unjust. Even holding negative thoughts about others can be a form of injustice. Real knowledge removes injustice from the heart, mind and soul, and brings a person out of the narrow circle of “I, me and mine”.
The session concluded with Shaykh-ul-Islam praying for the students of Al-Ma’rifa and their noble effort to strive for ilm with sincerity, discipline and genuine spiritual purpose.
It was a powerful reminder that sacred knowledge is not only to be acquired, but to be lived, embodied and reflected through humility, service and transformation of the self.

Shaykh ul Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, and Dr. Ghazala Qadri Attend Meet & Greet at MQI Oslo
Oslo, Norway: His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, Chairman Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI), and Dr. Ghazala Qadri, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League International, visited MQI Oslo, the headquarters of MQI Norway, to participate in a special Meet & Greet session.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Abdullah Khan (MYL Oslo). This was followed by a soulful nasheed presentation performed on daff by Abdul Manan, Haroon Qayyum, Qari Ansari Ali, and Allama Noor Ahmed Noor, which created a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
Addressing the gathering, Shaykh-ul-Islam emphasized that no individual alone can preserve and strengthen the faith of children; rather, it requires the collective support of a community. He explained that community does not refer solely to MQI, but to any group founded upon kheyr (goodness and righteousness).
Shaykh-ul-Islam further highlighted that while all Muslims belong to the Ummah, every believer should strive to become part of Kheyr-e-Ummah by encouraging good, discouraging wrongdoing, and maintaining firm faith in Allah Almighty. He noted that faith is strengthened through the first two principles, and all three must remain interconnected.
Shaykh-ul-Islam stressed the importance of active participation in religious and community work. He advised that every individual should assume a role—whether large or small—with the intention of serving the mission of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He encouraged attendees to dedicate at least one day each week to this noble cause and to strive to reach at least one new person through dawah, noting that true motivation develops through consistent action.
His Eminence also urged participants to set clear life goals that incorporate religious commitment, engage in regular sohbah (spiritual companionship), and attend the mosque with the sincere intention of seeking closeness to Allah through prayer.
Shaykh-ul-Islam remarked that although Muslims today did not live during the blessed time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they can still connect to his spiritual legacy through collective action—by understanding and sharing the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, improving personal conduct, and striving to revive faith within society.
He further noted that modern research also supports the importance of community life, showing that individuals flourish in structured communities where they develop improved behavior, discipline, and mental well-being. Drawing an analogy, he explained that the human body itself serves as a reminder that each part must fulfill its role for the whole to function effectively.
Representatives from Minhaj European Council (MEC) were also present, including:
Mian Imran-ul-Haq (Senior Vice President, MEC and President, MQI Germany), Sarmad Javed (Vice President, MWF Europe), and Ahmed Javed (Zonal General Secretary, MQI Italy).
Prominent representatives from Norwegian society attended the event, including Sheikh Tariq, a well-known businessman from Oslo; Akhtar Chaudhry, politician; Talat Butt, politician; and Maulana Mehboob-ur-Rehman from the Islamic Culture Center.
Representatives from MQI Norway were also present, including Awais Ejaz Ahmed (President), Afzal Ansari (Ameer-e-Tehreek), Allama Muhammad Iqbal Fani (Imam and Director MQI Norway), Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed (President Rabita Committee and Vice President MQI), Zartash Bashir (Vice President MQI), Hassan Bashir (General Secretary MQI), Atif Rauf (Finance Secretary), Ata-ul-Mustafa Mahmood (Joint Secretary), Pervaiz Nisar (Head, House of Representatives MQI), Arfan Ansari (President MQI Oslo), Sheikh Iftikhar (Vice President), Muhammad Nazim Ali (General Secretary), Fahad Nisar (Joint Secretary), and Executive Board members Rauf Hussain, Atique Sial, Shuaib Saleem, Sabir Hussain, Presidents of Minhaj Culture Centers, Asif Javed (Kløfta) and Shafique Siddique (Drammen), were also present on the occasion.
Seeking #knowledge requires noble #manners, #patience, and #perseverance. If financial hardship arises along this path, a seeker of knowledge should not become anxious or discouraged. True wealth lies in trusting #Allah Almighty and maintaining a strong connection with Him. When the heart is illuminated by the light of knowledge, worldly hardships begin to feel insignificant. Therefore, a sincere seeker of knowledge remains content with Allah’s will and steadfast in every circumstance.
