Johnny Knoxville and the ‘Jackass’ cast made a surprise appearance at the West Hollywood Pride Parade on Sunday (7 June) to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Knoxville was spotted carrying a rainbow fan and waving a Progress Pride flag along the parade route, while Steve-O rode through the festivities in his underwear aboard a makeshift shopping cart float decked out in rainbow flags.
After the event, Knoxville described taking part in WeHo Pride as a "dream come true," thanking LGBTQ+ fans for supporting the franchise over the years. "What a beautiful event to be a part of," he wrote on social media. "I was overcome with emotion a few times along the parade route."
The appearance also marked a full-circle moment for the ‘Jackass’ crew, who were once banned from filming in West Hollywood for 10 years after a stunt during the franchise's original 1999 pilot. The stunt, called “The Convict”, had Knoxville dressed as an escaped convict entering a hardware store on Santa Monica Boulevard to try and convince someone to saw his handcuffs off. "Banned from West Hollywood no more," the group joked in a social media post celebrating their Pride appearance.
it makes me really happy when an artist who isn’t trans depicts us without exaggerated features from agab puberty bc it can feel derogatory even when that isn’t the intention. the trans guy in the water reflection is an incredible detail too 🏳️⚧️
yall don’t understand that yes her calling a black person a monkey and yearning to say the N word without realizing the implications of it IS racist, you didn’t pay enough attention in history class
