Divock Origi has announced his retirement from professional football.
90 + 6 against Everton, the Barcelona comeback and of course, that goal in Madrid, he’s a true Liverpool great.
Thank you, Divock 🐐 All the best in your retirement.
People forget that we loaned him out to Wolfsburg, then couldn’t sell him so left him in the U21s.
That Everton game in December was his first of the season. He scored, had the Barca comeback, then won us No. 6. It was never supposed to happen. One of the great comeback stories.
Arsenal have set the record for the lowest possession percentage for a team playing in a Champions League final (since records began in 2003-04).
The previous lowest record was also Arsenal, set in the 2006 Champions League final, which they played 72 minutes with 10 men.
Most passes completed in a UEFA Champions League final since detailed records began in 2003/04:
◎ 141 - Xavi vs. Man Utd (2011)
◉ 141 - Vitinha vs. Arsenal (2026) 🆕
The Portuguese midfielder finished the game with a 94% pass accuracy and the POTM award. 🏆
Vitinha’s by a country mile the best footballer on any pitch he touches.
Ridiculous how good he is.
Completely ran that Champions League final, all by himself.
Unreal.
Undoubtedly the right decision moving forwards but what he brought us with number 20 shouldn’t be forgotten and how he handled the almost impossibly difficult tragedy last summer shouldn’t also.
Thanks for everything, Arne 👏
🥇 | @JacobsBen: The aim is for Liverpool to establish a more front-foot, aggressive and urgent style of football.
Liverpool decided to move swiftly so as not to overshadow pre-season.
