Their speculation on crude futures, overreacting interruption or disturbance.
These global trades wildly whipsaw end users.
And oil companies - well - their profits are of record and stratospheric, even as consumers suffer.

Still, U.S. production increased from 9.7 to 11.6 million barrels a day last year.
The number of oil rigs was 172 in July 2020 (E&E News). Now, 519.
U.S. production is forecast to set a record next year.
