Portland just banned foie gras.
Not food waste. Not hunger. Not seafood fraud. Not PFAS contamination.
Foie gras.
To be clear, reasonable people can disagree about foie gras production. But when elected officials have a buffet of major food system challenges in front of them, it's fair to ask whether this is really the issue that deserves the most attention.
What bothers me isn't the loss of foie gras. I can live quite happily without it. What bothers me is the opportunity cost. Every hour spent debating a luxury product consumed by a tiny fraction of Americans is an hour not spent tackling problems that affect all of us.

@minombrejonas@WallStreetApes I’d invite you to travel to Singapore and make your way to the Chomp Chomp food centre. As you walk in, stay to the left side and you’ll come across a stall grilling wings over charcoal. Have a few and thank me later.
