"The mistake of loving and praising, fearing and despising does not rest with the people but with those above. The reason the people turn to love and praise or fear and hate is because those above cannot be trusted. And when trust disappears, chaos appears." - Sung Ch'ang-Hsing
"Allow me to present a simplistic narrative on an insanely complex issue driven by centuries upon centuries of history, religious tensions, and geopolitical strategy in 280 characters"
@jdcmedlock tbh her brand of Marxism is much more entertaining than the normies', god help us but she'll probably be a thought leader within the decade
Kinda feeling this problem is gonna magically go away when people get bored, even though it clearly won't be solved. Media is just promoting this because the whole "welfare is making hiring impossible" stuff generates engagement.
When getting rid of pandemic UI programs doesn't make it any easier for people to hire tip wage workers because people still aren't going out as much, or back-breaking construction for the same amount you get paid to hustle boxes at Amazon, what will the excuse be then?
@jdcmedlock Damn Ivy League elitists with their social engineering welfare, making people not want to do the work of 2021 for what is essentially 1971 wages (with no benefits) at risk of severe illness or death! If only more people listened to common sense.
@marcorubio There's an old saying I think a lot of folks today have forgotten, Marco. This is some good old fashioned common sense right here: you get what you pay for.
Common sense tells me weβre still in a pandemic and fewer than 50% of working age people have been vaccinated, and business owners donβt want to raise wages sufficiently. We also have a UI program that is working as intended
@ZachandMattShow@rif_fe13@dapianna1 When you can start blaming Democrats for "getting nothing done" is in 2022 *assuming* they expand their majority to a point they can abolish the filibuster and thereby overcome the built-in advantage the Republicans have. Maybe sooner if D.C. statehood miraculously happens.
@ZachandMattShow@rif_fe13@dapianna1 This is the biggest problem with populist fantasizing: politics is not about magically making everything you want happen. It's much more about how our government works, the makeup of parties, and the consequences of electoral outcomes.
"Centrism" is not definitionally concrete, it is dependent on what is accepted within a society to each side of it.
Nor is it necessarily composed solely of platitudes. That is a choice of rhetoric over substance, not of pragmatism over ideology.
