Dad, @volkert_steve passed away earlier this afternoon. The whole family was able to spend precious time with him this past week. There are so many things I could say about this incredible man, but I think this Father’s Day gift from years ago sums it up best.
Today at the Girls 3A State Golf Tournament at The River Valley Golf Course in Adel, the average score on hole 18 was a quadruple bogey.
No, the golfers weren't bad, but this had to have been the most unfair pin placement I've ever seen. This slope gave the athletes no chance.
My dad did a great job assembling the playlist of his life on his Twitter feed. Here’s one he shared a couple years back in honor of grandpa that is so perfect to honor dad. https://t.co/XLyEP1yz9b

@notilltom@volkert_steve The entire team at Sanford was incredible from surgery through comfort care! Likewise, the team at Holstein Senior Living did everything they could to make the final days comfortable for dad and the family.
Twitter, my dad, @volkert_steve needs your prayers once again - this time for himself. Just 2 month’s after Mary’s stroke, Steve suffered nearly the same stroke. We’re in Sioux Falls looking for more answers but there is a long, long road ahead.
@dbnfarms@volkert_steve Stacy is doing ok. We were able to bring her home once he got moved to hospice and she spent a lot of time with him the last few days.
Not the update I was hoping to share regarding my dad, @volkert_steve. He knows you all are praying for him and it is much appreciated by the whole family. Take care all. Here’s the update my wife just posted to Facebook:
Dad, @volkert_steve, is still pretty out of it today. Hoping to pull the breathing tube tomorrow and that all goes ok. I told him he has an army fighting for him today - thank you all for your support!
Therapy was just in- Mary had some ice chips, a couple drinks of water and some pudding - the first she's had by mouth since we got here! We're talking about possibility of a feeding tube, now it looks like we may not have to do that! So far it's been a GREAT morning! #MaryStrong
@volkert_steve We’re going to need a lot of support and prayers as we start the journey ahead.

@JohnDeere I’ve always been proud to work for Deere and living up to our core value of integrity like this message is one of the main reasons for that pride. #johndeereemployee
@GoddessofGrain We have a 20 month old - I wish just once a week I could experience 1/10h the joy he feels from playing in a box, jumping around or chasing the dog . . .
Two years in the making - was done partly as a surprise for our oldest son Chad - restoration done by granddaughter Rayann and son Jeff. Chad's wife Wendy funded the project. Debuted at the Holstein parade yesterday - presenting the Volkert 1931 John Deere D.
