RWENZORI MARATHON

while at the @RwenzoriMarathn, I encountered a group of ZIMBABWEAN runners and I engaged them in a discussion.

Basic questions like how did you know about @RwenzoriMarathn? Which airlines did you use? How much money did you spend while in Uganda?

They learnt about @RwenzoriMarathn at Kilimanjaro marathon but they struggled to get information about accommodations, connecting flights from Entebbe to kasese.

They also feared because they thought Uganda was insecure until they sent 2 runners who enjoyed so much and they returned in 2025.

They said, we run about 5 to 6 marathons in a year, they averagely allocate usd 2k on on ground spend and it’s the way, they have been able to see Africa beyond their own home.

They said, we spent usd 200 each on accommodation( arrival and departure days) in Entebbe, usd 300 on flights to kasese, usd 100 each on accommodation in kasese and an extra usd 100 on entertainment.

Only usd 60 was spend on registration, the rest was open opportunities!

Kasese Uganda was only marathon destination they have gone to and struggled to find things to spend money on, the other marathon destinations have lots of things to spend money on.

The above was the same for many other nationalities who came to run @RwenzoriMarathn over the last few years, the ZIMBABWEANS went back home with usd 1300 unspent.

LET THE ABOVE SINK IN

@RwenzoriMarathn team has been on the road around the world marketing like their lives depart on that. 29 activations around the world, if am not mistaken.

Guess how much we spend on each activation?

Those of you with very business creative minds must start thinking about how we can close the gap. Why should runners go back with money they are willing to spend?

This year again, MAKERERE UNIVERSITY and UN PULSE will be on the ground in kasese to collect DATA on spending habits of runners.

LETS CHANGE THIS STORY, NEXT YEAR WE WANT USHS 50bn spend in kasese , Fortportal, ishaka , bushenyi , Mbarara combined.

I think the biggest problem ministers @BalaamBarugahar and @JustineNameere are trying to solve is the practice of government-aided schools sending UPE and USE learners home for money allegedly agreed upon by parents under PTA arrangements, yet the government has already paid for their education.

No learner under UPE or USE should be chased from school for any amount of money.

If parents agreed to contribute, those who are willing and able should pay voluntarily. Schools can remind parents directly without sending learners home.

Why should a learner whose education has already been paid for by government suffer because of disagreements between parents and teachers?

Let those who can and are willing to contribute do so, without forcing or punishing those who cannot or do not wish to pay.

Another candle got added to my name today.

Small thing… but back home they say a fire that warms a whole village was once just a spark someone refused to blow out.

That's you… every DM, every "coach can we talk," every silent follow at 2am when things were falling apart, you kept the spark alive.

The tallest tree never eats its own fruit. That's adulthood. You spend years growing... then one day you realize most of what you've built is feeding people you'll never fully know.

If anything I've shared has helped you earn more, think better, survive a toxic workplace or simply breathe easier... then this birthday already came with the best gift.

I'm just the man carrying the lamp so you can see your own road…so happy birthday to us.

To everyone who's chosen to walk this road with me... thank you. And if you're waiting for me to become softer... You'll probably celebrate many more birthdays before that happens. 😂

And yes... I'm accepting cake. Wisdom alone doesn't fill the stomach. If you insist on bringing nyama choma, I won't argue with destiny. 😂

Today, Buganda has passed a UGX 409.3 bn Budget for the year 2026/2027. We should note that in 2012/2013 the Kingdom had a budget of UGX 38.8 bn for the 2012/2013 before the arrival of @cpmayiga. This means +954.9% growth almost 10.55 times larger. On average, the Buganda Kingdom budget has grown by 18.33% every year.

TOURISM HIGH SEASON

I flew into Entebbe airport on 31st May 2026 from Mombasa aboard @UG_Airlines good service but almost empty plane.

I flew out on 5th June 2026 to Rwanda, almost empty plane and flew back yesterday almost empty plane and Entebbe airport basically empty for a high season.

I sat a crane cafeteria at entebbe airport on the 5th of June with my son and was excited to see 3 other people join us, I recorded a video.

Uganda has one international airport, as we arrived I could feel the immigration officers were excited to see us, they filled the booths to see everyone served quickly and simply took minutes to go through.

Tanzania now with many international airports is booming, every airport is crazy busy, yes they border Congo too. Young people are busy because of tourism across Tanzania.

Today Rwanda is hosting UB 40 and I met Ugandans , Nigerians, Namibians, Kenyans etc who have flown in to watch UB 40, those are opportunities for the country and the population understands that.

I was shocked at MOVENPICK hotel how many waiters walked to me to thank me for posting about Rwanda online. 2 of them said, when Rwanda appears in good light, it sustains their jobs.

They held BAL just recently and spenders flew from everywhere to watch the most entertaining basketball games on the continent. It’s not just about the game but great imagine it continues to build for the country.

Kenya is booming, even the few conferences which were meant for Uganda are either going there or the other neighbors, Kenya is hosting 100s of conferences.

Mombasa alone was maxing out when I was there end of May 2026, I witnessed a 400 room hotel send away another 100 guests. A dream for Uganda hotel owners!

Is wealth in conflict with life?

Heard about poverty, ignorance and disease?

What actually improves health?

1- good housing, 2 - good education and 3- nutrition.

Good health is actually made at home and only repaired in hospitals if it breaks down, right?

A strong economy is created by strong and successful critical number of businesses which don’t only provide jobs but pay taxes, buy health insurance for worker etc.

Emotions don’t improve health, never!

So, what do you protect first?

Protect source of wealth at all costs because the wealth will give you good housing, good nutrition and education!

Ugandas biggest killer is Malaria with 13m people getting it annually and 16k dying of it and it’s largely poverty related!

If we cared about life, we would fight poverty as number enemy through protecting enterprises!

Today one person gets sick in a family and impoverishes the whole family, their quality of housing is affected, education interrupted, nutrition goes down and health for them dives in danger.

The highest amount of money requests I get and many of you too is money for hospital bills. It’s overwhelming because wealth is affected when enterprises are in danger like now.

70% of tourism bookings gone, those are 75% earning opportunities gone, Ugandans chasing for opportunities in the US , CANADA, Mexico etc can’t access those opportunities. Trade hasn’t been spared either!

Countries that have their citizens with freedom of movement will out do those who citizens don’t have the same. It’s top end trade barrier! You either beg or borrow to survive!

Some people say, Wekesa, you only care about money and not life , Ofcourse those statements are born out of relative ignorance clearly!

An enterprise if successful, if opportunities aren’t interfered with all the time through mismanagement of information like the case in uganda, the enterprise provides jobs, buys insurance for its employees, supports many other businesses called service providers who also do the same.

Many businesses are born out of other thriving businesses, when a business dies, opportunities die as well. A big hotel like Serena will support close to 300 other businesses.

Those employed in enterprises are able to improve their housing, improve their education and nutrition hence less challenges with health related challenges at the end of the day!

Why won’t America, Canada and Mexico talk about hantavirus now? They are positioned to earn billions from World Cup which will help them fight hantavirus at the end of the day!

We shall also go and beg ushs 90bn to sort out our own health issues because we have chased away earning opportunities.
