A wonderful full-circle moment: I ran into @soortle at a coffee shop during #AERA24, and she came to my presentation. Her education classes at @Wellesley are the reason I am here.
Thanks to @AvashiaNeema for sharing her courageous and light-filled story with my @Wellesley students yesterday. We left with heats full and so much to ponder. Her book-Another Appalachia- is a treasure.
Today I got to talk about Another Appalachia with amazing @Wellesley students. I was so moved by their careful reading, their deep questions, and the way in which they kept saying, “I saw myself in here.” Mirrors, y’all. Don’t discount them.
What an honor to support you in this way. Your work is discerning while gracious, elegant in its storytelling while relentless in its truth-telling. Congratulations Dr. Bruhn! I can’t wait to see what you do next @SarahBruhn3!
My committee, @RGGonzales1@soortle and Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot, helped me find my voice, trusted my decisions, and stood by me through the wild journey of pandemic parenting/dissertating. Thank you for being such an incredible team. These generous words mean so much.
It’s officially my first day as Exeuctive Director of the NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. Let’s go!! @metronyu @nyusteinhardt
@alexfreidus@bailabomba @CarlaShalaby @eveewing When I read @CarlaShalaby @eveewing and @bailabomba there are always echoes of SLL’s fierce truth telling and radical love. She’s always been an inspiration for my work too. ❤️
