5B biology class got to visit UCD CEPHR (Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host Research). Activities included microscopy, pipette challenge, analysis of SARS-CoV-2 and use of commercial antigen tests.
Thanks to past pupil and PhD student Leah Ennis Mc Loughlin for inviting us.
@UCDInfectionBio In Fig. 3B pPH-EspG and pPH-EspGdA seem to have lower levels of PAK-P than pEspG alone, but in Fig. 3C significantly increase attachment. Why do you think the addition of the PH domain promotes enhanced attachment? #ccib2020week9
@UCDInfectionBio In Fig 5 A and B, treatment with ANXA1 delayed wound healing in Nox-/- mice compared to untreated Nox-/- or WT mice. This was not seen in vitro when cells were treated with NOX inhibitor DPI (Fig. 2C) What could explain this? #ccib2020week7
@UCDInfectionBio In Fig.7 if the loss of Th17 in the absence of CDC42 and MATE is due to a decrease in antigen acquisition by IEC would we not expect to see a significant decrease in genes associated with Th17 induction? #ccib2020week6
@UCDInfectionBio The paper shows high prevalence of CIA-resistant bacteria in the wild gull population, but this is not reflected in local livestock or human sepsis cases. Do you think the presence of such bacteria in the gulls poses a significant risk? #ccib2020week5
