Have you found joy?
That's the question that changed everything for @ucdavisfootball Head Coach Tim Plough. Early in his coaching career, his former coach Jim Sochor pulled him aside with those four words — and it unlocked a perspective that's shaped how he leads ever since.
Joy is constant. It's process-driven. It's gratitude. It's waking up thankful for what you have and seeking that feeling every single day. When your players learn to seek joy and stay neutral in the chaos, they give themselves the best chance to be the best versions of themselves.

One of my greatest joys is talking about the state of college football, the role of a coach and leadership styles...today I get to talk with @VintagePlough on the @yoptionfb podcast about those three things and much more.
UC Davis has been an amazing place for countless coaches, a lab to develop one's philosophy & a blueprint for consistent leadership for decades...Coach Plough has continued that tradition amid so many changes in college football.

“Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped.”

A cool story about Fernando Mendoza & Tim Plough's relationship at #Cal
#Mendoza - who was low on the Bears depth chart at the time - wanted to get in extra work to earn more playing time. Fernando met with Plough (Cal's TE coach at the time) to go over film and improve. There meetings would go well into the night, as the two went over film as Mendoza knew that was the only way to get better.
Fast forward, Menodza is now a #NationalChampionship winner as the starting quarterback on #Indiana
Moral of the story: It’s not where you start — it’s how you finish. 🏆

A 3 min answer from UC Davis HC Tim Plough
"I think with the connection I have with Davis, and the commitment I have to the community, and what I am trying to build here, it would have to be a tremendous situation to take me out of that."
