@hintze_mathias @footballinDK Turns out that he joined after turning 18 so it's not based on his age but apparently FIFA allows a maximum contract length of five years. That's why he couldn't sign a contract until June 2030 (at least not officially, pretty sure the deal was already in place).

@footballinDK True, but it would be weird to hand out a contract that runs out in December. Assuming he stays for so long, he could then sign a contract in July and then leave on a free transfer in the winter. That would be very strange in a league that doesn't play in the calendar year.

@bossfella The manager essentially said that it turned out to be a big mistake to sign him but it would have been an even bigger mistake to keep him and hope for everything to get better. There's probably some blame to share but it's usually a pretty well-run club.

@bossfella It's not much speculation. There have been a couple of public statements by ten Hag which were pretty ill-advised. And then you've got players who are used to giving bland interviews criticizing him after winning a match which is hardly a sign of confidence either.
