“Now we have clean water, and we drink from it,” says Mariam, 11, in Al-Shmetiya in Deir-ez-Zor.

For more than a decade, families here lived without reliable access to safe drinking water, putting children at risk of waterborne disease.

With support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the KfW Development Bank, UNICEF installed solar-powered systems at the local water treatment plant, ensuring reliable access to clean water.

In #Syria, nearly 14 years of conflict have devastated Al Sholah village. Recently, almost 2,000 people returned home, more than half are #children.
