"The Ishrat Jahan Case Was Meant to Target Modi & Shah" is a statement made by former Union Home Ministry Under Secretary R.V.S. Mani during an interview on the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash. 🔴 Primary Targets: Mani stated that in his original draft of the Home Ministry affidavit, Narendra Modi (then Chief Minister of Gujarat) and Amit Shah (then Home Minister of Gujarat) were explicitly identified as the intended targets of the operatives killed in the encounter.

🔴 Affidavit Alteration: He claimed that senior officials and political executives forced a revision of the text. They allegedly ordered him to replace specific references to Modi and Shah with generalized phrasing like "leading political personalities of Gujarat".

🔴 Role of P. Chidambaram: Mani alleged that the then-Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram, bypassed standard procedural channels, personally drafted a second affidavit, and ordered its submission to court. This second affidavit downplayed intelligence inputs linking Ishrat Jahan to the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Context of the Controversy

🔴 The 2004 Encounter: Ishrat Jahan and three others were shot dead by Gujarat Police personnel in June 2004 on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Law enforcement agencies initially asserted that the group comprised LeT operatives executing an assassination plot against Narendra Modi.

🔴 Political & Legal Dispute: The incident triggered intense legal and political crossfire for over two decades. Critics and human rights groups labeled the event a staged "fake encounter" designed to serve political narratives, leading to extensive CBI investigations and court trials.

🔴 The Counter-Narrative: Conversely, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and officials like Mani have consistently alleged that the UPA-led central government actively weaponised central investigative agencies to systematically frame Modi and Shah.

Mani, who has also detailed these allegations in his published books, reiterates that the manipulation of national security affidavits was structurally driven to target specific opposition figures.

For decades, Congress sold India poverty management as governance, entitlement as economics, and slow growth as destiny. Then they have the audacity to compare India with China, after wasting decades when China was building factories, ports, highways, scale and national ambition.

The China comparison is useless unless Congress first answers one question:

What exactly were you doing for 67 years?

Congress mocked ambition because it never had any.

In the coming years, I think we will see "Kudankulam protests 2." Most likely starting from TN. That time it was against Russian built reactors.

This time it will be against India's new Fast Breeder reactors, already existing reactors, or their expansion to help power India.

If so, we will see fishermen with flags and coastal community protesting in water and the state's CM, whoever it is, going to give them political support.

Former PM MMS ji called the 2011 Kudankulam protests against the Russian reactors as a work of foreign hands. More specifically he stated in a magazine interview, and I remember clearly reading:

"The protests were done by orgs in India who were funded by NGOs, from the US and Scandinavia, who do not like India to be energy independent."

He was referring to the then Deep State. The DS now has evolved. And is influenced more by another actor. Still India faces the same DS threat.

So remember PM MMS's statement if you see protests erupt. Do not fall for propaganda that "PM Modi sold something to some corporate" or "Govt is doing something nasty to the environment."

Or any of their nuclear doom & gloom propaganda that's sure to precede any organized protests.

They said the same last time about a different govt. And India faces similar deep state adversaries who will try to disrupt its energy independence and growth. Let's not become their easy prey and pawns in sabotaging ourselves.

PM @narendramodi is not afraid of President Trump. PM Modi understands the long game and his diplomacy with the U.S. is strategic. Just as @POTUS will always put America’s interests first, so will PM Modi do what is best for India. And I applaud that. That’s what Heads of State do. They do and say what is best for their country.

I don’t expect you to understand this type of leadership because you don’t possess the acumen to be PM of India. Best to return to your “I hate India” tour that has an audience of one - you.
