Before we go any further with #metaverse, new logos, #AI and moon plans can we work out how to keep me safe without having to accept the cookies! Surely someone is smart enough to stop the click.
Pet Rocks were a short-lived fad that originated in 1975, conceived by Gary Dahl, a copywriter and advertising executive from California. The concept behind Pet Rocks was simple yet bizarre: they were smooth stones that had been gathered from a beach in Mexico and packaged in a box as if they were living pets. Each box contained a rock, a small manual on how to care for the "pet," and a cardboard carrier with air holes.
Dahl came up with the idea for Pet Rocks after listening to his friends complain about the difficulty of taking care of real pets, and he thought it would be funny to create a low-maintenance "pet" that didn't require feeding, grooming, or attention. The idea was a hit, and Pet Rocks became an overnight sensation. Dahl sold more than 1.5 million Pet Rocks in just a few months, making him a millionaire.
Despite the absurdity of the concept, Pet Rocks were a popular gift item in the mid-1970s, and they even spawned a number of imitators, including Pet Logs, Pet Stones, and Pet Bricks. However, the fad quickly fizzled out, and by the end of 1975, Pet Rocks had become a relic of pop culture history.
Scientists have made a white paint that can make surfaces as much as eight degrees Fahrenheit cooler than air temperatures at midday, and up to 19 degrees cooler at night, reducing inside temperatures and cutting air-conditioning needs by as much as 40%.

A Blessing for When You Need a Second to Think It Over
(From THE LIVES WE ACTUALLY HAVE)
Blessed are you who don’t have
all the right answers.
You who realize that “I don’t know”
is the best response and posture for now.
You who lean in, unafraid to learn
and change and be wrong along the way.
Blessed are you,
stretched and pressed and pulled
by the uncertainty,
deciding to not stay the same
because we are not who we were.
We have been pulled into the unknown
without our permission.
But the challenge is the same:
reveal truth in love in the midst of seeming chaos.
Blessed are you who realize that
community can help see truth more fully
even if your chin has to be turned gently toward it.
Being fragile amid a world of hammers
takes courage
to be wrong,
to learn something new,
to choose humility and kindness
over being right.
May we be a people who don’t have it all together
(and who are done posturing).
Curious, hopeful, courageous.
Amen.

@charlesincities We just moved to Switzerland. Remarkable that small children (Kindergarten age upwards) walk to school on their own. Also most elementary kids return home for lunch so they are doing 4 walks per day. Creates independent children and none of the traffic snarls outside schools.
