To mark the announcement of 'The Light Pours Out of Me'. Omnibus Press asked me to put together a #johnmcgeoch playlist. Some of my very favourite examples of John's creative genius with Magazine, Siouxsie and PiL. Enjoy! https://t.co/7td8XkbDyR
This 500-year-old portrait may seem ordinary, but it's one of the most mysterious in history.
There's so much detail that you can read every musical note on this small page.
But look closer — an unsettling secret is hiding in plain sight... 🧵
@GraemeAThomson Considering I want to be cremated to it… it has to be Hendrix’s solo on ‘Machine Gun’ from the Band of Gypsys record. Billy Cox’s bass hammers the whole thing down and it just sounds absolutely brutal. Love it and have done since I first heard it as a kid.
@Albums200 This is a top ten album of all time for me… Soul Mining is probably number one. Incredible lyrics, stunning arrangements… what I love about Matt Johnson is that he always did great collaborations with strong female artists. I love that. Guy’s a proper legend.
@AnneErickson Pantera saved metal back in the day. Dimebag was one of the most exciting, interesting and important guitarists of all time. Incredibly soulful too… a lot of soul in his playing. Is this in question? Just stick on ‘Domination’ from the Moscow gig. Nuff said.
@KiranSidhu41 Yeah, In fairness I was a bit of shit! I’m so grateful that I started working young and found, in care work, something that spoke to my soul. It has been a huge blessing.
Great to meet up with @Will_Fuzz and Davo this afternoon. @Bunnymen playing Leeds o2 tomorrow night… get down if you can, you won’t be disappointed. #headswillroll
@gjh2541@AnneErickson You know, Geoff Tate really deserves a shout if we are talking about heyday Priest and Maiden era… the guy had one hell of a voice… check out ‘Take Hold of the Flame’ live in Tokyo… either 83 or 84… absolutely ridiculous.
Destiny Stopped Screaming: The Life and Times of Adrian Borland – Book Review by Rory Sullivan-Burke
“...the underrated genius behind, perhaps, post-punk’s most undervalued group, The Sound, is the subject of Simon Heavisides book.”

Remembering the one and only #mightyjohnmcgeoch. A beautiful guitarist. Those Magazine and Banshees records are so special and so unique and in large part thanks to what John was able to do. Timeless. 25/8/1955 - 5/3/2004 🏴 #johnmcgeoch#postpunk#magazine#siouxsie
