October 8th, 1980 "Dirty Mind" was released by PRINCE. The story goes It was so different from his sophomore release, Warner Bros. was trying to give the record back. This was the final album of his first record contract which was a 3 record deal.

PRINCE pushed back & WB gave warning to music critics & radio programmers to listen before airing. The positive reviews from critics & radio programmers even tho a number of cuts couldn't be played on air had WB go forth with the album.

"When U Were Mine" was embraced by KROQ in Los Angeles with Rodney On The Roq & Right On magazine continued their support for PRINCE, pitching it as a more adult sound.
