Once, I was /very/ drunk, and for whatever reason, I decided it was a good idea to walk 4 or so miles to Walmart and look at electronics. The whole trip and back happened completely without incident, and the next day I could only remember about 20 seconds of the whole thing. That's the day I realized that consciousness is not really all that necessary to everyday life.
It's one of the profound paradoxes in my life that one of the people whom I love dearly believes neither in dreams nor cilantro. At least she likes cats.

When I was a newborn, doctors told my parents I had a blood clot in my brain, and that it might get knocked loose and kill me some day. I've never really reflected much on how that might have affected them.
It's kinda obvious, but also kinda wild, that if you relentlessly follow any particular line of formal inquiry into the nature of the world or of thought, you eventually start running into the fuzzy boundary with the informal and/or ineffable.
