★Revelation 8:1 describes that when the seventh seal is opened, “there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.”★
I am mesmerized by the philosophical depth, etched in its instated dictum of no escaping from death, shown in the Ingmar Bergman classic "The Seventh Seal." One can play chess with death, but can never win...a checkmate is always waiting.
They don't make movies like this anymore!
★Denouncing a shameful act★
I am absolutely appalled by the disgraceful and shameful comments made by an Indian MBBS student on a comedy show regarding cadavers used in the dissection hall, while, as an anatomist of standing, quoting the names of both the student and the comedian remains below my dignity. A bit more online dig shows that this fame-seeking moron made more of such derogatory statements on cadavers in the past, and, apparently, the student thinks they are funny.
Anatomists and patients and their families have sacrificed a lot to ensure respectful handling of cadavers during dissection. This idiotic craze within certain sections of modern society to gain fast attention by making vulgar insults and steering controversy is beyond obscene and disgust.
★Important Career Update★
I have been inducted as a Fellow of the Anatomical Society (FAS) as a recognition to my contributuion in teaching amd research related to anatomical sciences. I acknowledge my teachers, supervisors, mentors, and students for their kind support. 🙏🙏🙏
I am deeply saddened and angry on how the name of Surendranath Banerjee is being maligned by the latest scandals that have erupted out of the Kolkata college named after him. After RG Kar, now it's SN Banerjee...and this crime of defacing Bengal's luminaries continue. This is a shame without hiding, and only the almighty knows when this dark tunnel will end, or will it even end.
It shows that at least a section of Bengali society, and I am speaking as a proud Bengali myself, lacks the sophistication, cultural dignity, and basic human decency of even showing respect. Utter disgrace!!!
★Invited Talk Alert★I will deliver an invited talk at the Palacký University Olomouc (Dept. of Chemical Biology) in Czech Republic on 19/05/2026. It is the 2nd oldest university of the Czech Republic and Gregor Johann Mendel ("The Father of Genetics") is one of its alumnus. Feeling honored and humbled.
★FUN FACT★
Hollywood icon and the greatest male star of Classical movie era—Humphrey Bogart—was a strong chess player who used to hassle New Yorkers by amateur games to earn money before stardom. He even forced the famous chess playing scenes from his cult movie "Casablanca."
An interesting development with serious global geopolitical repercussion expected.

Today marks 40 years since the Chernobyl disaster. On April 26, 1986, a reactor explosion changed countless lives, displaced entire communities, and left a lasting mark on the world. A reminder of the human cost of technological failure.
Have we learned our lessons???
With the teaching term now over, and students preparing for their Exams, I went out on a walking tour through the Howth trails, where the golden sunshine and deep blue sky etched everlasting memories.
Really grateful to Andrew Mahon for coming over to UCD and delivering a guest lecture on the equine distal limb anatomy, with emphasis on farriar skills. The students enjoyed the session very much. A big thanks to Andrew and all the students. 🐎🐎🐎
Thanks a lot, ACS (American Chemical Society) for the recognition of my contribution as a peer reviewer in ACS journals. As an academic, it is part of my job to offer my service as a peer-reviewer. I will continue my role this year as well.
★Fun Fact for Bengalis★
Bengali people now often write Bengali in English fonts, especially while texting. And they believe it's pretty much of a 21st century trend after the smartphone revolution. However, the legacy of writing bengali in foreign casing goes back by almost three centuries, when the bilingual (Bengali-Portuguese) evangelist book titled, "Crepar Xaxtrer Orth, Bhed" ("কৃপার শাস্ত্রের অর্থভেদ") was published at Lisbon (Portugal) in 1743, that is, more than a decade before the Battle of Plassey (1757). Here, Bengali was written in Latin. I have attached a few photographs from folios of this extremely rare book. Interested people can read its digitized copy through UPenn Library's Digital Repository portal. I will provide the link to the online version in comments section.
Delivered an online (remote) lecture on the embryology and development of cardiovascular system to the veterinary students of Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD) in Indonesia yesterday. There was plenty of student interactions, and the enthusiasm was visceral. Incredible experience!
My lessons from visiting Morocco:
1. Civilization is always layered, polychromatic, collaborative, and pluralistic. No civilization is "pure". Celebrate Integrity and Solidarity.
2. At the end of the day, it is the PEOPLE what matters.
3. Respect Africa. Respect humanity.
