1/3 A Chinese non-profit organization, Girls Protection Fund, publishes annual statistical reports on child sexual abuse in China. The latest study found 223 media-reported child sexual abuse cases in 2021, with over 569 child victims. Acquaintances committed 80% of the crimes.
2/3 Among offenders, regular acquaintances such as security guards, relatives, delivery men, and kindergarten principals comprised the highest percentage of offenses (33.12%). Teachers accounted for 27.5%, and family members such as father, brother, stepfather and uncle 17.5%.

1/3 Published in @TheLancet, a recent study analyzing 65 global studies assesses the protective effect of past #COVID19 infections against reinfections. The study reveals substantial protection against Ancestral, Alpha, Beta, and Delta but lower protection against #Omicron BA.1.
2/3 The protection rate against #Omicron BA.1 reinfection stands at 45.3% and symptomatic disease 44.0%. In other words, the chances of being infected by Omicron BA.1 for previously infected individuals are 54.7%, and 56% of them will develop symptoms.

Reports of #COVID19 reinfection are on the rise in #China. At a recent conference, Chinese disease expert Zhong Nanshan said predictions based on a data model foresee a peak of #Omicron XBB reinfections in late June, with around 65 million cases a week.
