Mamdani name-checks a bunch of former Knicks players during his speech at the parade -- including Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo -- and says "this championship belongs to them too"
NYC mayor Mamdani shouts out Tom Thibodeau in his speech at the Knicks parade:
“This championship belongs to them too, because championships aren't just built in one season.”

Left as early as I could to see the parade today after dropping my son off for school. I waited my entire life for this but unfortunately, everything was full when I got there. This was handled extremely poorly, you couldn't even tell where checkpoints were, where lines started or ended and etc. Why not include the checkpoint areas prior to the parade so people knew were to go? I walked around for an hour speaking to cops about where to go. None of them seemed to know either.
Happy for everyone that actually got in though.
Not wasting any time or energy arguing about Brunson with anyone. He has averaged nearly 30 PPG in 61 career playoff games for the Knicks. He just led the Knicks to their first chip in 53 years and outplayed the reigning 2-time MVP against a Spurs team where he had to face one of the league’s best defenders with the unanimous DPOY roaming the paint. He scored 45 of their 94 points on the road to lock up the title. What more do people want?
We just witnessed Jalen Brunson drop 45 points in a closeout game and single handily beat a 65-win Spurs team that beat the reigning champs
This is an all-time great
