If you want to know more about left resistance and left political prisoners in Russia, you can real the 'Unheard voices' book, published by @postsovietleft: https://t.co/qsIO5W6X5l
It is truly petty to watch leftists trying to prove to one another which bourgeois faction in Armenia is better or worse; it is hard to imagine a worse form of self-flagellation or a more complete surrender of political agency.
The main reason of the left melancholy is you.
@paolomossetti But there is a huge problem in Italy (as in any EU country too) with the lack of supporting Russian left opposition in exile, conscientious objectors, and solidarity with Russian left political prisoners.
The St. George ribbon is not the suitable symbol for any left-wing organization. In Russia, it is associated exclusively with the state authorities and their appropriation of Soviet symbolism. Leftists in Russia who take internationalist positions do not use the St. George ribbon
Because this is the core argument of the "End of History" liberal narrative. It has been thoroughly discredited by now — hopefully on every front. But our task is to construct an alternative comprehensive narrative about our countries: not as an anomaly, but as the current norm — even as the vanguard of a world in crisis. And precisely because of this, also as the place where the re-emergence of communist politics will become possible.
@MaterSciEng@Volod_Ishchenko It’s a bit inaccurate to compare a political system to a traditional religion that has existed for a thousands years, isn't it?
@Volod_Ishchenko Definitely. Why, in the first place, did anyone assume that post-Soviet countries are lagging behind—rather than being at the forefront?
@TopofMurrayHill In Russia, the situation regarding the Ukrainian language and the languages of national minorities is quite comparable. Not to mention the massive anti-migrant hysteria, which has, in effect, called into question the self-sufficiency of migrants and their culturue.
At the very same time, dozens of Russian leftists, antifascists, communists, anarchists are sitting in prisons on trumped-up charges.
Contemporary Russia clearly chooses its priorities: supporting the far-right 'traditionalist' agenda and suppressing the left.
Andrew Tate, the world's most notorious misogynist blogger who was convicted of rape, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation of minors, has arrived in Russia. Tate's visit may be related to the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. https://t.co/ddnscmtHhm
But we'll still have to endure the disgusting elite insisting that we absolutely need a non-leftist coalition, preferably with someone more confrontational and hostile, and that issues of human rights and freedoms are quasi liberal rather than communist.
Let's face the facts.
The largest rallies against chauvinism in Russia are organized by communists.
The largest rallies against internet blockages are organized by communists.
The largest opposition regional networks in Russia, which exist despite all the risks, are far-left.
Why, in the opinion of right-wing extremists, people unite around them: the opponent wants to build communism and thereby encroach on democracy.
Why people actually unite around them in reality: the moderate left will never take real socialist measures and just discredit it by it
@Berkut3204@IBoltonovitsch Lol. Soviet Union exist no more. Now it is 2026, not 1989. Stop sovietising all of the things that you personally don't like and start live the reality.
What makes the Post-Soviet left movement better than the Western one is that there's a clear understanding that we need to restore the large red spot on the world map and expand it as much as possible.
@IBoltonovitsch Say this to the victims of civil wars on Tajikistan, central Asian authoritarian regimes and so on.
Your 'no one' is just the white supremacist optics.
I don't mentioned USSR itself, I've mentioned the socialist power at all, it is not equal to the USSR (so isn't opposite too)
