Writing is meant to be a journey.

In Sept., I had 7 rejections. I reflected; rooted out mistakes.

In Oct., I made it into @EllipsisZine, was longlisted for @reflexfiction comp and had a story accepted by @flashficmag.

I still have so far to go, but I now understand that's ok.

[Jessica Katherine Andrews @sowingwildnotes]

@brecht_dp Haha omg THIS. I feel so jaded now 🫠

[Jessica Katherine Andrews @sowingwildnotes]

@davidbclear So many terrifying animals to chose from! But bear, I think

Just catching up on this year's winners, and holy hell: what wildly beautiful flash! Especially entranced by @sarahillswrites and @JDMontgomery_ entries; I must've read each half a dozen times.

My little story has casually wandered into the short list, sat down and ordered a beer. I, on the other hand, am losing my goddamn mind 😂

What an unexpected surprise! It feels extra special to be selected by @timkcraig, whose work first inspired me to write

[Bath Flash Fiction @BathFlashAward]

2022: writes obsessively; checks fastidiously; sends multiple entries: tumbleweed

2023: has baby; forgets own name; feverishly sends single entry in the dead of night: long list

Surprised and delighted to finally long list in the wonderful @BathFlashAward!

[Bath Flash Fiction @BathFlashAward]

Many congratulations to the 50 authors on our 24th Award longlist and thank you to all who sent in stories. It was, as always, very hard to whittle them down, from over 1000 entries. Please check emails to confirm your piece is listed. Shortlist out soon
