Hey everyone!

A quick shipping update.

We’re still packing and shipping every day, and we’re getting close to the finish line. On Monday many of you will be getting orders.

Here’s where things stand:

1. Macmillan has all orders and is working through them. They’re now deep into the 30,000–40,000 order range. There are stragglers from earlier order numbers…because of address updates. One of the biggest slowdowns has been reshipping books that went to old addresses. International orders are also moving at different speeds depending on each country’s customs. Since I’m covering the import taxes, there shouldn’t be any extra charges when they arrive. It’s been amazing seeing thousands upon thousands of books showing up all over the world.

2. Honestly, address changes continues to be the biggest issue by far. 9 out 10 times when hasn’t gotten it in the batches we’ve sent out it’s been this.

3. Good news: every 2023 order has shipped. If you ordered in 2023 and still haven’t received your Color Edition:

• International: There’s a good chance it’s waiting in customs.
• U.S.: It’s most likely a delivery issue, an old address, or a package lost in transit.

If that’s you, please use the contact form on https://t.co/tQ526rDSEt with your order number so we can track it down and make it right. We’re also waiting on the final batch of tracking updates for those orders, which should be in next week.

4. 2024 orders are almost finished, and 2025 orders are starting to arrive.

I know it’s been a long wait. If I were shipping 50,000+ books myself, I’d probably die. All I dream about is shipping and packing. Macmillan has been an incredible partner, and I’m really grateful for everything they’re’ve done to help get these out.

Will a few packages get lost, damaged, or delivered to the wrong place, or chewed up postal Velociraptor? Probably. That’s shipping.

But we’ll fix it.

OH MY CRAP! Thank you to everyone who came out to the Nashville book signing! Insane! It was so awesome to talk about the story and spoilers will so many of you. We’re still shipping out novels so my brain is still in that stage so it was a nice break for a few hours.

I did want to mention, as we going on the 1st leg of this tour, we ONLY have a small amount of novels for these events, there will be novels there and we’re saving a chunk for each hour block. The Last Book Store in Studio City (Los Angeles) will be carrying the book in store 🥹 This is a 1st for me and will be a sight to see. After the event I’m going to sign the copies they have there. The Wild Detectives in Dallas will also carry the book after the event and I’ll do the same there. We’re talking to more indie bookstores across the world. I’ll make a list of places that will carry it on the site.

Happy Final Space Friday!
Got word that the Battle Worn dust jackets will be arriving in Nashville early next week. I haven't seen them in person yet, and honestly, I've never printed a dust jacket before but I'm excited to see how they turned out.

We've officially shipped out over 70% of all novels now. Insane. There's still a bunch left to ship, but we're working hard to keep moving them out the door. Appreciate the patience!

The Part 1 of the book tour officially kicks off at the end of next week in Nashville. We'll have merch and novels available at each signing.

Also, The Last Bookstore in Studio City will be carrying the novel in-store. There will be a limited quantity available, just as a heads-up.

We should have a few more bookstores to announce soon that will be carrying the novel in their shops as well. It'll be a lot of great independent bookstores.

A few shipping updates!
First off, we're still going hard every single day. We haven't really taken a day off since this started. Saturdays, Sundays...doesn't matter everything is blurring together. We're doing everything we can to get these novels out the door as fast as possible. Heck tomorrow is my birthday and I'm going to be doing this but the job. is. not. done.

It's been awesome seeing international orders from Batch 1 and Batch 2 landing in your hands. Thank you all for the patience.

I also updated the shipping ticker on the site. We're now pushing through orders 11,000–21,000, which means...
We're officially about halfway through shipping all pre-order novels. We're waiting on updating shipping confirmations from MacMillian.

The biggest thing slowing us down right now is still address changes.

Yes, we're still updating addresses every day. We get emails every minute of every day asking for them. Happy to do it! What's happening though is shipping notifications are showing up in inboxes, people check them and realize:

"OH NO... that's my old address!"

Then they email us after the box has already been packed or shipped. We try to catch as many as possible before they leave the warehouse, but once they're gone, they're gone. At that point we have repack and resend.
That's just the reality of shipping A LOT of books. We can post deadlines, reminders, updates, emails, social posts... but information doesn't always reach everyone at the same time. Sometimes someone sees the fourth reminder instead of the first. All good. So now we're still pushing forward but also trying to help fix the ones that are hitting errors.

Another thing worth mentioning:

If USPS marks a package as "Return to Sender" because the address is undeliverable, they are often not actually returning the book. In many cases they're destroying it.

Yeah...it stinks.

So far about 65 orders from Batch 1 & 2 have received that status. We won't know the final number until a few weeks after delivery attempts are completed.

If this happens to you, please email us and we'll get your address updated and figure out the next step.

One of the benefits of running the pre-order for so long is that it allowed me to estimate exactly how many extra books we'd need for damaged shipments, lost packages, address issues, and all the other chaos that comes with shipping something this massive. I set thousands of books aside specifically for situations like these.

Once EVERYTHING is shipped and everyone is taken care of, if we still have inventory left, I'll put those copies in the store.

However, I will not be reprinting the pre-order cover.
Once these are gone, everything switches over to the bookstore cover forever... and then I'm going to sleep for approximately nine million years.

Midnight Editions are moving along nicely. We have a BIG shipment heading out tomorrow.

We hit a couple slower days because I ran out of signed stickers and had to switch to signing books as they ship.

The Battle Worn Dust Jackets arrive next week, so we'll begin shipping those out as well.

Hey everyone!

I’m going to keep posting updates whenever I have them even if they’re tiny. So here’s the latest breakdown for both the COLOR EDITION and MIDNIGHT EDITION.

First off: we’re answering roughly 500 emails a day…and then wake up to another 500 the next morning. A lot of these are address updates, which is totally fine we’re working through them and figuring it all out. It’s just clogging our inbox, but we expected this to happen which is why we had as many people as possible do it three months ago.

COLOR EDITION

We’re now in the later part of Batch 2.

The timing got a little weird because of Memorial Day weekend, so MacMillian was closed Monday (though we did get a jump on Midnight Editions that day).

About 400 international orders are going out tomorrow on top of USA, Canada.

We’re also having a meeting Monday to figure out how to speed this process up even more.

The biggest bottleneck right now is honestly just data. The process goes:

Nashville exports batches → MacMillian imports them → UPS imports them

There’s a small data conformity issue happening between systems, mostly with certain UK addresses. Some UK addresses work perfectly, others have unusual formatting where there’s no street name and only numbers or district identifiers. Different systems want address information formatted differently, so we’ve had to manually verify some of these orders.

USA, Canada, and most international orders are moving smoothly and at a nice pace. This is still moving around 40x faster than I could have done this by myself. Thousands of books have been shipped out and it is getting faster

MIDNIGHT EDITION

We’ve been packing roughly 200-ish books per day. We have around 400 books hitting the post office tomorrow.

We already have another 100 packed and we’re continuing to pack through today and tomorrow.

MIDNIGHT SHIP DAYS ARE: TUESDAYS & FRIDAYS

(The post office hates us.)

But we are moving. We’re working long hours and moving about as fast as we can.

One final thing:

You may notice some big jumps in batch numbers. That’s because batch numbers include ALL orders not just graphic novels.

Honestly, Im pretty exhausted but it’s all exciting at the same time haha. I’m just packing all day all weekend and to get books out the door on the Midnight side. Once we get tracking information from MacMillian we’ll update the international for Batch 1 & 2 and USA for Batch 2. They are packing Batch 3 order numbers #10,501 to #15,500.

I’ll have a big update on Monday on where we’re at, plus a few more tour stops I’ll announce then but we’re just working around the clock to get books out.
