Vietnam striker Nguyen Xuan Son ruled out for 4-6 weeks with thigh injury
Vietnam striker Nguyen Xuan Son is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks after suffering a posterior thigh muscle injury, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said on Saturday.
Xuan Son underwent a medical examination on the morning of Sept. 27 after being forced off during Vietnam's match against the Philippines.
Doctors in Indonesia diagnosed the striker with an injury to the posterior thigh muscle and estimated a recovery period of four to six weeks.
At Xuan Son's request, Vietnam head coach Kim Sang Sik has agreed to allow the forward to return to Vietnam on Sept. 28 to continue his treatment and rehabilitation, the VFF said.
The VFF's National Teams Department is working with FIFA to complete the necessary procedures for his return.
The VFF and the Vietnam national team said they would continue to support Xuan Son throughout his treatment and rehabilitation, while wishing him a swift recovery and return to competitive football.
No specific date has been given for Xuan Son's return to action. His recovery timeline will depend on his progress during treatment and rehabilitation.

Ever wondered why https://t.co/gpfORCZxze is so rare?
There are only 26 possible single-letter .com domains โ from https://t.co/0grxx24f4m to https://t.co/ab0E4W1l2i.
But almost all of them have been reserved for decades.
In December 1993, Jon Postel, then operating the IANA function, took steps to reserve single-character domains for potential future expansion of the Internet.
That means most one-letter .com domains were never made available for normal registration.
There were a few exceptions: https://t.co/HNHxY137f1, https://t.co/gpfORCZxze and https://t.co/ab0E4W1l2i had already been registered before the reservation policy took effect, so they were allowed to remain.
Today, those domains are essentially relics of the early Internet.
So https://t.co/gpfORCZxze isn't just a short domain.
It's one of only 3 surviving single-letter .com domains โ out of just 26 possible letters.
A tiny piece of Internet history. ๐
