News24 has revealed that Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala was planning to build a private luxury terminal at O.R. Tambo International Airport. Investigative journalist Jeff Wicks says Matlala was in talks with Nedbank for R70-million per year to fund the project. Questions are now being raised about how a private individual got this far into a national airport project and what the bank negotiations mean for corporate oversight.
