Another (big) step towards a Canadian domestic space value chain was made today. MDA Space announced a $10M investment into Maritime Launch's Spaceport Nova Scotia.
MLS signed a $1M agreement from Reaction Dynamics in August, $10M from Export Development Canada last week, and now $10M from the makers of Canadarm.

Up to $300,000 CAD per project is available to Canadian post secondary institutions & not-for-profit organizations who can propose ground-based experiments that mimic space conditions (from microgravity analogues to isolation and confinement).
Projects must map directly to a future Canadian study on the ISS or other platforms and target priority health risks such as musculoskeletal loss, sensorimotor changes, metabolic effects, behavioral health and performance, radiation exposure, and variable-gravity adaptation.

Spaceport Canada location revealed?
The race for Canada’s first operational spaceport is heating up.
Over the last year Markham Ontario’s NordSpace has quietly teased the location of Spaceport Canada, its commercial launch facility. From subtle tweets (Xeets?) to updates on their website, NordSpace has shared minimal, yet insightful information on where they plan to launch their flagship orbital vehicle (Tundra) from.
On the heels of the historic Technology Safeguards Agreement (TSA) announcement in August 2024, NordSpace revealed that it would invest $5M of its own funds for the first phase of Spaceport Canada. Construction for the spaceport is expected to cost a total of $10-15M, with NordSpace and the Canadian government covering the remaining costs.
