@crulge Children and grand children of white flight have come home to roost in the hollowed-out ruins of pre-war walkable US urban fabric, usually at the expense of those who were left behind by WF in the first place.
@adamjohnsonCHI Even the our conservative Bulwark-type “allies” can’t help but betray their reactionary lack of critical thinking skills that make them conservatives in the first place.
@JamieBonkiewicz@BenjaminPDixon This sentiment is spot on and reminds me of another old counter factual: if Al Gore were president on 9/11, instead of coming together with record high national pride like Bush enjoyed, Rs would have just impeached and convicted Gore on high treason for allowing it to happen.
@ettingermentum 47%, the fact checkers comment, self-deportations, clown car primary, “we built it” misquote convention, caught in a weird rw media lie during the debate. Truly either a harbinger of things to come, or more likely just always what they were.
@rowdyburns1978@mattyglesias Some issues fix themselves here being in the middle of manhattan. Most other cities that have these are anywhere from problematic to disastrous. “Towers in the park” disrupt an urban fabric to such a degree that they create a ton of other problems like crime, car dependency, etc.
