A friendly reminder this Labor Day that unions didn’t win weekends and the minimum wage and laws against child labor and sick leave by being nice, polite, or respectful. They won by fighting. They won by striking and struggling and being radicals. And we have to do the same.

The claim that men don't protect women because feminism is frankly laughable. Men have never protected women. Never. The protection racket is all promise (and threat), no protection, to extort submission from women. Feminism didn't make men cowards, it acknowledged it. 1/
watching pbs doc on wizard of oz. apparently the concept of a ‘good witch’ was new + unheard of as witches were previously depicted as old and ugly. baum was inspired by his wife who wrote about womens’ rights and how women were burned as witches for their intellect.
I wonder how many quiet Autistic people started off outgoing and loud, but were told during childhood that they were “too much”, and this left them so deflated that they no longer wanted to (or felt they were allowed to) be their vibrant selves and they became quiet out of habit.
