Globally, we're moving back towards an aristocracy of wealth, more akin to the 19th century than the 20th.
Anyone who cares about social justice, about moving away from higher and higher levels of taxation on work, should be very concerned. Time to do something about it.
@LpoolCityRegion Anfield and the city centre already have awful congestion problems, a dedicated lane isn't going to make them any faster than buses using the existing bus lanes. Go the whole way and make a real commitment to the future of the city, build a proper tram.
@HumphreysECHO Might help a little bit if something was done about Cross Keys House. So many abandoned buildings in the Dale Street area despite the massive regeneration going on elsewhere nearby.
Trams can completely transform cities for the better. Here is a before and after the tram arrived in Odense, Denmark. Huge amounts of new homes were built, alongside the route, the busy road was narrowed and tunneled, and the streets pedestrianised and returned to people.
@LCRMayor The gliders are a perfectly okay stopgap for a small city, but a major city the size of Liverpool should have proper tram rapid transit like most of our peers.
We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.
We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.
@donmcgowan@lewis_goodall With all due respect; Reform may only have 5 MPs but they are topping the polls right now, they aren't a minority party. I hope they die out, but it is a duty of a fair media to give them a fair hearing and challenge them as with any other party.
