I love love love this tune.. it just didn't fit on any album. It's called "Knee Jerk".. it was written during covid, and I was trying to work through some anxiety issues. It began to get very hard to get through live shows as things reopened. Writing songs is therapeutic

The earlier demo of this song was The Sphere That Holds You, Dear.. changing the inflection. Either is suitable ❤️❤️

"Poster Boy" from the album, Sugar Burner..

Our drummer Kevin loves to play this one. At the time I wrote it, it felt like Descendants meets synth pop. The original drum loop was purchased from Sigi of the Icelandic band, The Sugarcubes.

This one is called "Release The Hounds," off of Bigger On The Inside.

It started with a very simple demo that I gave to the very talented Jason Feathers who then played live drums AND all that wonderful piano and organ ❤️

The song was 1000 times better after Jason's additions.

"Petrichor" from Bigger On The Inside

The title refers to the smell of dirt after rain.. the lyrics have absolutely nothing to do with that at all.. I just liked the word. Enjoy 🔥

"Black Sails At The Bay" was written just after Pirate Signals was released. It was going to end up on the follow up album.. but it was eventually shelved, and now part of the expanded 10th anniversary edition. EVERY version of The Assorted Vagabonds has played this song live ❤️

"Last Laugh" from the EP of the same name

This tune was co-written and produced by Dan & Nate of Hey Monea, and was so much fun to work on.

This record was too experimental for some, but I think it's my sister's favorite 😄

The random rattles in this song are my 1yr old daughter. She was in the room while the live mics were recording ❤️❤️

I'm from the generation that used to say "no shit, Sherlock" when you missed something obvious.. this is like that

I was having way too much fun with samplers and synths, and thought it would be cool to not have any guitar in this

"Are You Really Sure?" is a tune from the B-side collection, called No Pressure. It was released last year. Total #tameimpala vibe.. or at least I think so :)

I used to drive a lot at night coming home from gigs. You always pass road construction in Ohio. The lyrics reflect roads signs and passing half asleep semi drivers
