@johnrambin @rwesthead The whole point of the original post is that there shouldn’t be a draft because it takes away choice of where you can play. You can only play where you are drafted unless they release you, which they often won’t. So if you want to play in that league, you have no choice of where.
@bmac901@rwesthead They’ve always had that choice. They chose the path that gives you a scholarship to a Canadian university when you’re done major junior. Now they also want the choice to play in the NCAA. Great for them, and really unfair for those that choose the NCAA path from the start.
@Bratt_world@CityNewsVAN That’s Canadian swimmer Josh Liendo. He won a silver medal in the 100m butterfly. Both are good news stories, someone just messed up the photos. Everyone calm down.
@Repinerator@rosscraig@LynneRo57274239 Nope. The health care plan (drugs, physio, psychologist, glasses etc) moved to Canada Life last year. Dental is a separate plan and has been with Canada Life for many years. Was with Great West Life before that.
@rosscraig@LynneRo57274239 That is just for the plan for retired public servants. Totally separate plan. The dental plan for currently working public servants has been with Canada Life for years already.
@theevagutierrez@nickgraynews I tried this with my dermatologist that was always at least 1 hr behind. 8 AM appt to have one stitch removed. Then I watched a drug rep waltz into her office at my appointment time. Colour me livid.
@Ricegirlisme @ctvottawa You’re right. The federal public service was moving to more and more telework before the pandemic. If it had been able to continue to happen gradually over the course of several years it wouldn’t be an issue and we wouldn’t be talking about it. But it still would have happened.
@TTrueman9@4getusername@ctvottawa Agree. Much easier to have conversations that shouldn’t be overheard by people that work in a completely different area in the privacy of your home as well.
@RJCSurtees@jupiter_daisy@TWilsonOttawa What would I be surprised about? The team I manage is not quota driven. There are 4 different types of work happening in my group. I 100% know if someone isn’t performing and I address it. The needing HR thing for big issues is true but unrelated to remote work.
@duchofb_dorothy@J_Dawg_West@TWilsonOttawa Can’t speak for others but it applies to my entire department and no one has a work printer. You have the tools you need to be paperless. When everyone was at home and we needed to be paperless it magically became possible.
@RJCSurtees@jupiter_daisy@TWilsonOttawa Except it’s not harder and it’s not a new thing. I manage 10 people remotely. I know when people aren’t delivering and I deal with it. I don’t need to go to their desk to know they didn’t do their work. Yes you need HR but that’s a different issue.
@RJCSurtees@jupiter_daisy@TWilsonOttawa Those are the same people that were unproductive in the office. They need to be managed properly. You’re either delivering or you’re not. From where is irrelevant.
@jv1954so@SamHersh01 The workplace people are returning to isn’t the same as the one that existed before the pandemic. No one has a desk. You can’t leave anything at the office. You still spend half your day on video calls. It isn’t the same at all. And it is largely a waste of time.
@samy_sherwin@heyalexfriedman You can’t see anyone’s butt through hockey pants. Male or female. Hockey gear/uniforms are not remotely sexy. Even if the person inside is.
