An annual 48 hour online software development contest in which teams from around the world get exactly one weekend to create the best BEAM-based app they can
It also means that for Europe, as an example, the contest starts at midnight π, after which many will go to sleep and only start in the morning. And since the organisers are present during the competition for whatever might arise, we believe this timespan is fair.
Other comments: Not a huge deal. Starting at UTC means I end 10 am AEST, Monday. Which means I can't spend the last few hours due to needing sleep for work.
