Special Constable policing Scotlands railways alongside incredible people! All views are my own. On a 🚂 near you, bobbing along or occasionally at my day job.
Bravo to the highest ranking volunteer police officer in Scotland 🏴 A man who has served his community tirelessly with dignity and humour. Congratulations SI Jamieson 👏👏👏
We have a full Level 2 serial of @MPSSpecials officers [supervisor and seven officers] led by one of our own officers involved in the policing of the protests across central London. This is a massive step forward in the development of public order policing by our @MPSSpecials
@DurhamSCChief @sc_survey@WMerciaSpecials What a load of nonsense. More or less the same thing happening at BTP, complete stripping of the specials rank structure, everything being handed over to the regulars supervisors. Many of whom are the route cause of the discrimination and unfair treatment experienced by us.
Spent this morning with our first cohort of @GMPSpecials undertaking their Level 2 course. Feedback from trainers and our officers has been very positive.
This is another area where GMP are making a significant investment in our officers, alongside laptops and standard driving.
Happiness is seeing 2 of the best officers I know passing their TASER course, becoming amongst the first SCs in Durham authorised for #TASER. Years of effort, patience, influence and evidencing of capability has finally paid off and SCs in Durham now afforded equal protection.
Tonight we issued around 70 laptops to our valued @GMPSpecials By doing this our officers will be able to support their communities even more, something they are keen to do.
Further roll out sessions are planned as we continue to issue them to all officers.
Did you witness an assault on the ScotRail service from Glasgow Central to Largs this Saturday?
Between 11.29pm and 11.55pm, three men assaulted another man, injuring his face and ankle. They left at Kilwinning.

Humour me a deep small thread.
Month 2 of being grounded and still processing the fact I’ll never return to the front line. Watching friends/colleagues run out of the door to calls hurts. I miss the adrenaline, I miss the driving, I miss blue lights. (1/3)
🚐 Big News: Introducing our second Special Constabulary vehicle - a 6-seater van! This addition will enable the growth of ASB initiatives and enhance training for our new officers later this year.
Court Results: Lily Turner, 20 of Heywood, yesterday at the start of a trial, pleaded guilty to driving on 21/5/22 while over the prescribed drug limit. The trial had 3 of our @GMPSpecials in court to give evidence. She was banned for a year & fined a total of £596 (inc costs) G
After a number of positive meetings, we will shortly be rolling out laptops to all @GMPSpecials
This means that along with a laptop, our officers have:
📱 Mobile phones
📷 Body worn video
👮♀️ Access to Public Order L2 training
🚔 Access to Standard Driving courses
Last week, #NEST Special Constables were on duty throughout Edinburgh, including in the Leith and Bruntsfield areas, where they carried out proactive patrols, attended incidents and made a significant arrest. #ValuedVolunteers
@BTPScotland routinely patrol the Subway network and will respond to calls of anti-social or unacceptable behaviour in our stations and on our trains. Abusive and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated on the Subway.

#ARREST | This is the dramatic moment a brave off-duty special constable disarmed a suspected gunman moments after a shot was fired in #Birmingham city centre.

Amazingly brave actions taken by @BTPSpecials at hospital for an unconnected reason - heard a man attacking nurses and security, and had managed to lacerate two of them with an improvised weapon. One officer drew Taser and several others assisted in subduing the male.
Last night PC Jackson (our SC Operational Lead) was on his way home (off duty) after attending our Northwich SC team meeting, when he intervened & detained two males for attempt robbery. Both were arrested, including one for having an offensive weapon! #WeAreProud 👏🏼
@PSOSYouthVol Excellent to hear how the Edinburgh SCs are pushing the needle of cultural change forward, writing their own SPRS, getting rid of pool radios and bringing mobile tech to specials. Competence is key to driving cultural change. Amazing work you guys and gals!
Today 15 officers from SC to S/Supt passed the four day Level 2 - Public Order Public Safety course at our Tactical Training Centre. Whilst intense, it was a fantastic experience. A key investment in our volunteer officers, which will help keep our communities even safer! 👏🏼
