You'd think that the NHS would better understand the need for sterility than any other organisation. NHS sites, just like schools, are duty bound to accept people from all walks of life into their establishments and it stands to reason that there should be no ideological biases on display, the environment should be sterile. Certainly all staff members have a right to their own beliefs but the moment you allow that to be displayed or communicated in the workplace you are inviting debate and reducing the level of safety and security.
....and that is where I keep coming back to when I wonder about the actions of people in positions of significance. Politicians, captains of industry, scientists, heads of financial institutions etc. ought to be conducting their business in an ethical manner, sacrificing outright profits and votes for that which benefits the majority and/or benefits the greater good but because they favour political and racial bias and the mighty dollar over all else we so seldom see our "Elites" choosing right over wrong.
@AgentP22 Regardless of our gullibility, if the SNP administration was so open to financial misappropriation then the level of SNP gullibility certainly brings that party's continued existence into question if not actually raise serious doubts about the validity of the Scottish parliament.
Surely any office that is funded by the public purse is open to scrutiny by the public and no office bearer has the right to deny that scrutiny. I understand that some governmental offices may be shielded by the badge of "National Security" but if an office bearer has broken the law why would the public not have the right to know the full extent of the offence and be reassured with regard to the integrity of the public purse.
I like to take a walk whenever our wonderful British weather allows and I often ponder the state of the nation while walking (an annoying habit I've developed since retiring). I have just returned from such a walk and rewarded myself with a cup of tea and a catch-up on X and, who'd of thought it, looks like you're replying to my internal debate of the last couple of hours. Every word of your post makes complete sense (they usually do) to me and I would disagree with none of it. I think accusations of racism have become so commonplace that they no longer have any impact except on those who have reason to fear the accusation and they, unfortunately, tend to be the people in society who are charged with imposing discipline and control. How can we reasonably ask our law and order forces to apply British law with authority but not offend anyone who isn't a white Brit? Surely the enforcement of law should be sterile, free from racial/religious nuances and focussed on determining right from wrong.
Aren't you just (putting passengers first)! Society's freeloading passengers who choose your overly lucrative benefits over the benefits of working for a living are clearly first in your priorities. Willing workers are nothing but an inconvenience to the Labour party. This attitude is just one of many that dooms the Labour party to the same fate as the Conservative party - footnotes in history.
@RupertLowe10 I think most people, by now, know that the BBC is as bent as a nine bob note and that the correct response to their pointing finger is to look in the opposite direction.
@ClareCraigPath This is like a bad soap opera where we know what's coming in the next episode! Crossroads comes to mind (that doesn't age me does it?!).
I was and it's a rule that has served me well.....mostly! I'm afraid that it doesn't work as a blanket rule in our current society, we have enough bad actors with children in their sights that children cannot be instructed to trust and respect their elders. Having said that I think children should be encouraged to respect everyone until they have a justifyable reason not to.
@AgentP22 Hmmm, maybe Mr Murrell should be cut a little slack. If people just gifted me money for no good reason without me asking for it I'd probably spend it on frivolous trinketry too.
It wories me that Reform have taken in many of the fleeing rats from the Conservative party and, as far as can be publicly discerned, Reform's method of dealing with internal dissent is both brutal and dictatorial. Reform may sound like an alternative to the uniparty but where the choice exists I would rather back Restore Britain.
Very well said! I have one daughter who lost her job last year because her employer moved the operation to Dubai due to escalating employment costs and my other daughter's part-time retail job changed dramatically when her employer reduced staffing levels due to the NI increased burden. Nobody needs to tell me that the fiscal management of our country is in the hands of incompetent numpties.
