@ChiChic55@G_25punts@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh Did you see the word "groom" written boldly?
Plus paying a token of appreciation for deflowering a girl doesn't make sense. It's more likely to be called "a penalty" .
@cheekyBoy198@UJEE5050@phreshplug@official_Gegeh I found this. Only slaves are sold bro. When you marry a woman, she is called "your wife" and not "your slave". I think we shouldn't allow the careless talk of hurt men and disrespect the from some wives to make us redefine what tradition has already explained regarding dowry.
@UJEE5050@phreshplug@official_Gegeh Yeah it has been. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. But my point is bride price doesn't mean anyone is buying anyone off.
@UJEE5050@EJeremiah42863@official_Gegeh I'm not calling other women sold. I'm aaying that if that's what they believe happened to their female relatives , they can go ahead and believe that. But not in Nigerian or Ghanaian culture sha.
@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh The same google search buttresses my point. No woman one is dragging submission and leadership with their husband in Africa. I feel the insecurity in a lot of men of late is causing problems and women are fighting back because it's evil to describe God's creation as a commodity.
@UJEE5050@legit_united@official_Gegeh I didn't say it honors women. It appreciates her family. The same google that gave your research mentions it shows appreciation in Nigerian culture. Google it as well since you googled the Indian one. See, where I'm from, our men love our women❤️they don't buy them like slaves.
@phreshplug@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh Marry an Indian if you want to receive a token of appreciation.
Her family will send your family dowry. It's really that simple.
@M_MAHMUD_x@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh I wasn't sold by my parents. Your family situation and mine are different, we're not on the same level. The original owner of this post has enough sense to understand my point of view but then there are people like you who read to insult strangers on the internet. God help you.
@EJeremiah42863@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh Especially those who don't deserve to be married. Ergo the uncultured and crass men. I know I wasn't sold, neither was my mum.
@Erusmannn@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh Well, your grandpa sold your mother like a slave but it doesn't mean it's the same culture everyone else has. Maybe it was just your mom or sisters who are. More civilized cultures explain otherwise. So we're clearly on different wavelengths. Sorry about your family situation.
@legit_united@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh To her parents and family. In India women pay the dowry, so it doesn't make sense that it would connote the woman's ownership of the man. In some cultures they state verbatim that it's to prove that the man can take care of the woman. Every culture is not the same.
@UJEE5050@official_Gegeh And of course, respect and submission are very important in every marriage and I do not disagree with you on that that but the use of the word "ownership" is not an accurate description of bride price.
@MAMA__IFY@Emmanuel_Tips What do you even mean by yoruba motivational speakers? Didn't you just hear him give correction? They now replied "men dey" so he just ended there cos they were making light of his message. Don't be funny with your comments! we all know people hear what they want to hear.
@CALEB__CRYSTAL@Minkheey Typical of weak men. They let the wives handle all the "bad cop" decisions and in this case discipline. I never really liked that character, Tom Scavo. From the little I remember, he was a weakling and never was present.
@Real_jaeflex I hate it when they don't get the accent well. There are many great Nigerian actors and actresses but instead of casting them, they go look for some American who can't deliver the accent. No insult or disrespect to the actor, he tried his best, but the accent is a bit off.
