@Lisa_K_Short And, that’s with the privilege of being able to save to go, and also because I’ve already rearranged my life to be able to support my child’s needs, which is an equally frustrating but different discussion re: the ways society fucks women and those who don’t fit in precise boxes
@Lisa_K_Short I got an MFA while my kids were small (youngest was born my first semester.) That was hard enough. I’m considering applying to clarion now that my oldest is 19 and my youngest, who is ND, is 12. It’ll only happen if I feel confident the 12 yo can handle the time apart.
@kburnsie19@catvalente Both of my kids have been These Kids and at this same age the oldest didn’t figure out how to unlock the baby gate so much as he hulk smashed it—cracking the doorframe. For us it eventually just got better over time but I can’t say why. Too much sustained sleep deprivation
@JenaFriedman Yes and yes. It sucks an awful lot. I breastfed one kid and formula fed one kid. They’re both challenging but for me the breastfeeding was harder
