Want to prepare your baby for a lifetime of success?

Make literacy a priority from the start.

Surround your child with spoken and written language. Speak, read, sing.

And model reading as a skill - and interest - of your own. (Remember there’s nobody your child wants to emulate more than you.)

I love what this family has created, adding literacy to their daily mealtime routines. After each meal, the children hear books read aloud - which is followed by a short period of independent exploration with books.

Look at how attentive these little guys are. At this age, start small… even a minute or two at a time can help start a lifetime habit.

And never forget that literacy learning begins long before children enter kindergarten. Want them to do well in school? Don’t wait until they get there to begin.

@RanaAwdish I appreciate your insight I waited 12 hours today to hear news about my hubby who was transf 2 hours away. I tried to be put on speaker phone during a doctor consult and that was shut down. Leaving families and caregivers out of the process is so difficult and hurts overall care

@RanaAwdish My dad was in the hospital 1x during Halloween. The nurses dressed up in vintage nursing uniforms. I will never forget the look on my dad’s face when he woke up & saw his nurse. It ended up being a funny memory we shared & could laugh about later. Miss him!
