Dirty Thoughts showed a very strong late speed rating (ranked 1st of the meeting) to come from last off the very slow pace making up 6.5L over the last 400m.
The decision to ride I'm Thunderstruck further forward was a winning one with him rating almost 4L faster to the 400m than his previous start and 7L closer to the leader. Had he been back last he would not have run a place.
We've seen McEvoy slaughter a few horses before but Atishu takes the cake, what a super effort from the horse to come from a ridiculous position and get within 1.1L.
@katea76 I reckon all the small business and people going broke or can't see their dying families might disagree! She has no clue about the long term damage she is doing, do you honestly think you can stay closed forever....keep dreaming and join the real world.
@BigDaveToots12@TRBHorseRacing Unfortunately David, the notion of "getting cover" is vastly overstated and detrimental to a lot of horses. Horses often lose 5L of position to go back and get cover and are then asked to make up that 5L plus more under hard riding over the last 400m. Makes no sense.
@StudentRick@Punters The margin may say 2L but the difference in speed quality is only 0.5L on our figures when you factor the early/late exertion. A better judged ride has him 1-2L closer off the slow speed where he gets a clear run and wins.
@Punters 100% correct, very poorly judged ride, Masked Crusader would have won easily had he judged the speed correctly and placed the horse 1-2L further forward. McEvoy butchers his fair share of horses don't worry.
