Happy World Down Syndrome Day! DS is the tripling of the 21st chromosome (hence 3/21) and means Declan learns differently but he, and others, deserve respect and inclusion. We hope people stop using the “r” word, and are kind and accepting of those trying to do the best they can.
Happy World Down Syndrome Day! DS is the tripling of the 21st chromosome (hence recognized on 3/21) and means Declan learns differently but he, and those like him, deserve respect and inclusion. We hope people refrain from using the “r” word, and are kind and accepting of others.
March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day (3/21 because DS is the triplication of the 21st chromosome). Declan loves & supports his twin sister, and we can support him and all neurodiverse people by not using the “R” word and by finding ways to be as inclusive as possible for everyone.
@angusreid64 We’re trying, Angus - daughter is competitive U15 integrated hockey goalie & plays rep fastball. Once ball is over this weekend, hockey “begins”; goalie ice time, gym workouts, Pilates, scrimmages. Need a side hustle to pay for “opportunities” to make top hockey team next year.
@RSockeyes@ricpetrowsky Well done, Richard; Best of luck. We went to the Quebec Pee Wee Tournament together and won a National Championship with the Sockeyes together. You’ve had an amazing run and were always good to me, which was much appreciated. Congrats.
Happy World Down Syndrome Day! Celebrated on 3/21 (Down Syndrome is the triplication of the 21st chromosome) to raise awareness about inclusion and ability. Our family hopes today brings smiles and happiness for others, much like our twins do for us each day. #DownSyndromeDay
Today is World Down Syndrome Day (3/21 because Down Syndrome is the triplication of the 21st Chromosome), and our little guy has given us so much happiness and joy. He and his twin sister have opened up our world to the power of inclusion and kindness. #WorldDownSyndromeDay
@ScottOake That’s great news, Scott. We always enjoy your insights on Saturday nights that make HNIC even better. Your humour, personality, and resilience inspire others even when I can imagine things are tough. Stay strong and take care.
Down Syndrome is the triplication of the 21st chromosome, hence, 3/21 is World Down Syndrome Day. Celebrate diversity and inclusion for people like our son Declan, by not using the R word and saying child with special needs rather than special needs child. #WorldDownSyndromeDay
With all this COVID-19 gloom, we’d like to send a smile and well wishes for health and safety today on World Down Syndrome Day (3/21 as DS is the triplication of the 21st chromosome). Take care.
@imacSportsnet Any chance we can change from “autistic brother” to “brother with autism?” Is a +2 change in word count but puts the child first (rather than the diagnosis). Just wondering as I am sitting beside my child with Down Syndrome. 😁
Today we celebrate people with Down syndrome (DS is the triplication of the 21st chromosome-hence 3/21) and remind people not to use the R-word. If you hear that word and have courage to ask others politely to stop, Declan and our family would appreciate it. #Inclusion
