@BowTiedBroke It's not just Amazon. I bought a garbage disposal from big box hardware once and was very surprised to find a very used unit inside. I went back to the store and was given an actual new one by very unsurprised staff.
JUST IN: AI data centers could soon require blast-resistant concrete, anti-drone defenses, & missile protection as attacks on computing infrastructure escalate worldwide. — Financial Times
The Gervais Street Bridge, 100-400 Meeting St, 100-136 Sunset Blvd, and 100-109 Alexander Rd will be closed to traffic on Sun, Oct 25, from 7AM - midnight.
Drivers should use the Jarvis Klapman or Blossom St Bridges to travel between Columbia and West Columbia during this time.
The shine on candy corn is bug resin. Brach's calls it confectioner's glaze.
The bag reads sugar, corn syrup, then 2% or less of salt, dextrose, confectioner's glaze (shellac), gelatin, honey, artificial flavors, sesame oil, Yellow 5, Yellow 6 and Red 40.
Shellac is what a lac insect leaves on tree branches in India and Thailand. It gets scraped off the bark, cleaned, dissolved in alcohol and tumbled over the candy, and it dries into the same hard coat that goes on a hardwood floor. That's the shine, and it's why the pieces don't glue themselves together in the bag. The gelatin is pork or beef collagen, there for the chew. The honey Brach's puts on the front of the bag is under 2%, behind the salt.
Bags on shelves this fall list Red 40. Last year's listed Red 3, which FDA pulled from food in January 2025 with a 2027 deadline. Brach's says it makes about 7 billion kernels a year.
What you can do right now:
— use an ad blocker. uBlock Origin in Firefox or Brave on desktop. on iPhone: use a Safari content blocker.
— ad blockers only work in browsers, not inside apps. delete free ad-supported apps you don't use.
— kill your advertising ID:
iPhone: Settings → Privacy → Tracking → turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete Advertising ID
Windows 11: Settings → Privacy & Security → General → turn off personalized ads
— restart your phone daily, many zero-click exploits don't survive a reboot. forcing attackers to reinfect you is a real defensive measure.

could have been the attack.
I hate to say this because it goes against everything I believe in. But people are going to need to take down public firmware images for critical infrastructure, like yesterday.
The suicide rate is 3.5x higher for farmers than for the general population in America. And it is not just happening here, as Nick Easen reports on the growing suicide rates for farmers in the UK. Most people still don't know or understand what it takes to farm, or what they've been through for decades. This is another reason it's important to learn where your food comes from, along with knowing the people who grow and raise it.
Christmas is coming.
A lot of people are looking for gifts that were actually made in America.
We are building the Christmas gift guide and the product listings that go with it.
Same reason the Liberty Tabletop post hit hard: people want the real thing. They want to know who still makes it here.
If you manufacture in the USA and want your products in front of that audience this season, we have spots open for the guide and the listings. 1/2
@_Regenaissance Pyrenees. Fantastic dogs. Very stubborn but get a pup and train it on how to interact with you. They have amazing instincts and will do their job well.
A hacker accessed Denmark's national ID database.
8.8 million records.
the password was "123456".
The administrator account at Pays ApS, a 2-person IT company with legal access to the country's central civil registration database used 123456 as its password.
at least three accounts did.
including the admin.
and the hacker was in for 21 days and 17 hours.
The Danish digital affairs minister called it an "extremely serious incident."
In the week after the breach became public, Danes setting up credit fraud alerts went from 250,000 to nearly 970,000.
the hacker told the newspaper Politiken the access wasn't difficult.
The CPR contains names, addresses, national ID numbers, church membership, and legal incapacitation records for 11 million people.

Meta's Muse AI agent harvests personal, financial, and professional data from people who have never installed or given their consent.
Avoiding Muse doesn't stop Meta from collecting your data. When a contact grants Muse system-level access to their email accounts, contact lists, calendars, and private messaging history, the agent processes and indexes every interaction involving you. Meta receives, analyses, and stores your private communications without your knowledge, consent, or notification.
This secondary data harvesting places non-consenting individuals inside Meta's commercial profiling system. Because Meta stores this indexed information on central servers, your private communications and personal network details become accessible through government disclosure orders and law enforcement requests. A single contact surrendering their account permissions compromises the privacy and digital security of their entire personal and professional network.
My initial technical breakdown below examined Muse's permission structure and core capabilities. The upcoming investigation details the specific data categories Muse accesses and the mechanisms it uses to index unlinked third-party records.
Muse is probably one of the most toxic products to come out of the tech industry in 30 years.
Google is silently linking your phone number across all signed-in accounts:
"[...] poses obvious privacy headaches for anyone who intentionally segregates their primary SIM from secondary accounts."

The most dangerous hardware implant in the world looks 100% identical to a regular Apple charging cable.
Inside the plug is a microscopic computer. Wi-Fi chip. Memory. Processor. All squeezed into the tiny rubber boot at the end of the cable without making it any bigger.
Here is how an https://t.co/0eC3dDSY66 cable actually works:
1. It stays completely invisible
When you plug it in to charge your phone, it behaves like dumb copper wire. Files transfer normally. Fast charging works. Your laptop diagnostics see standard power draw. Inside, tiny switches keep the attack chip completely disconnected from the USB data lines until it gets a wireless command.
2. The antenna is the metal shell itself
Normally, metal blocks radio signals like a Faraday cage. But the designers routed the internal antenna directly into the metal frame of the Type-C plug. It radiates Wi-Fi right through the casing.
3. An attacker controls it from a car
The cable siphons a tiny trickle of power from your computer's USB port to keep its Wi-Fi awake. It hosts an invisible network. An attacker sitting 50 meters away in the parking lot connects with their phone, opens a browser, and has a full dashboard with your machine on their screen.
4. The fundamental flaw: operating systems blindly trust keyboards
Keyboards are special. They have to work before you log in so you can type passwords or access the BIOS. Because of that, Windows, Mac, and Linux accept any USB keyboard without asking for permission, installing drivers, or running an antivirus scan.
5. It types at 1,000 words per minute
When the attacker taps "fire" on their phone, the chip switches on and pretends to be a keyboard. It doesn't type like a human. It dumps raw key codes directly into the USB buffer.
It hits Windows+R, launches PowerShell in the background, downloads a payload, and clears the run box in under two seconds.
Your crazy antivirus is watching files and network traffic. It has no idea someone is typing at hardware speed.😂
It’s not about the zoo tickets, it’s that at some point I looked up from my paycheck and realized OH, cool, I’m apparently funding the welfare state, Big Pharma, foreign countries, “Learing Centers,” government programs I’ve never heard of, Planned Fucking Parenthood, and seventeen layers of bureaucracy whose primary function appears to be emailing each other PDFs; meanwhile, I pay taxes when I earn money, taxes when I spend money, taxes to employ people, taxes on property I ALREADY OWN, taxes go up every year anyway, the school district discovers another $75,000,000 it absolutely cannot survive without, and if I so much as raise my hand and ask whether maybe, possibly, perhaps somebody could spend slightly less money, I am informed that I hate teachers, children, puppies and probably literacy, and NOW after financing civilization itself I’m also supposed to smile and subsidize someone’s trip to see the giraffes.
Know what I mean?
