And we’re back again, with an announcement:
Save the date for the 2021 hybrid-virtual SAOC Symposium:
✨Accountability Before Unity✨
Mark your calendars for April 10 🗓
We are so excited to see SPIA alum @rickyhurtadonc win the 63rd House District! Congratulations - deeply thankful for the vision and his work moving forward! 🗳️💫
I am deeply humbled by tonight’s results. I look forward to representing the 63rd House District in Raleigh. Alamance County has spoken—it is time to chart a new path forward for our community.
Equitable policy cannot happen without a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion lens. At the Woo, even in crisis, we continue to push forward for a DEI requirement.
For alumni: If you were a student at WWS currently, how would you advocate for marginalized communities that are feeling the effects of COVID the most? Answer below!
Confronting issues like voter suppression, mass incarceration, and racist violence is so urgent. These are issues of life and death for so many communities of color.
Local laws are passed at light speed - and with social distancing, sharing development of bills and laws with communities of color becomes even more difficult. #SAOC2020
Question 2: "How do you navigate this representation in normal times, and how have you approached it given the different ways COVID-19 has impacted your communities?"
So happy to see the Students and Alumni of Color Symposium move online. It was difficult to learn we wouldn't be able to gather in person, but I'm glad we still get to learn from some phenomenal alums! @WWS_SAOC
Dean Miguel Centeno kicks off the panel! "Policy involves politics, representation, and making tradeoffs. It's really important for all of us to be here." #SAOC2020
Missed us? SAOC is going virtual this year! We're hosting a short panel discussing "Political Representation in the Time of Covid". If you haven't already registered, join us now!
@WilsonSchool - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion should never have to be negotiated. It’s on the mission statement.
It should be required for each and every policy maker, policy academic AND students. “It’s what you do, not what you write.”

.@princetonian - HAPPENING NOW: @WilsonSchool students are showing their support for a pilot diversity, equity, and inclusion component to the curriculum. Would be great to see reporting on this effort of student activism.
Returning to grad school has been busy, but climate change isn't waiting for anyone to finish their degree. Students at the @WilsonSchool authored a letter in the @princetonian endorsing the #ClimateStrike. Check it out and join in your own community. https://t.co/f1zcFf1jAN
